Hi all: we just booked a very last minute trip to HH for this coming weekend. Just 2 nights to celebrate DD6 turning into DD7.

We wont have much time but what should we not miss?

Is there a character breakfast/encounter of any kind?

We will arrive about 8pm on Friday, can we eat at the resort?

We are from Georgia and this is a huge football weekend as it is "GA vs. FLA" in Jacksonville. DH will be in front of the tv from 3:30 until the Dawgs win! ;) Is there enough to do at the resort that will occupy the kids and I for a few hours?

Any great recommendations for Sat. night dinner?

We are very excited. HH is one of our home resorts and this will be our first visit. Thanks for any and all advice!!

Hi, - You're in for a great weekend. We'll be down there as well, but not at the resort.

I wouldn't plan on eating at the resort Friday night. There's a sort of snack bar there, but that's about it, and it'll probably have closed by the time you arrive. In Shelter Cove, just back across the bridge from the resort (you could walk), there is a very good Mexican restaurant. There is also a Fuddruckers a little north of the resort on Hwy 298. If you're not too tired, there's a place called Marley's near the entrance to Sea Pines that's casual and pretty good and very kid friendly. Or, you could order pizza and sandwiches from Giuseppi's which is not far and very good.

During the ballgame, you and the kiddoes could go to Disney's Beach House in Palmetto Dunes where there's another large pool and beach access. You can also rent bikes. That's a big activity on HHead.

If you let me know what type of nice dinner you're thinking of, I can recommend some places. Have a nice weekend.

THanks SusieBea!

For dinner on Sat. night we would love to go somewhere that does not require dressing up but that would be great seafood. It will be DD's birthday (turning 7) so somewhere fun. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Well, the Marley's restaurant I mentioned would be good for that, but another place you might consider is the Wreck of the Salty Dog (843-671-7427 or www.saltydog.com) in Sea Pines Plantation. To get to Sea Pines, turn right onto 278 from Shelter Cove. Go to the traffic circle this is only a couple of miles; go half way around and proceed to the gate (You will also see Marley's on your left before you go through the guard gate.) It costs $5 per car to get into Sea Pines, but you can come and go as many times as you'd like during the day. The Wreck of the Salty Dog is in the South Beach area of Sea Pines and there are directional signs. There's a marina down there w/ fishing ships, a couple other restaurants, and several shops. It's a fun place, but some people are annoyed about the $5 entrance fee. There are also stables in there if your son likes to horseback ride. While you're in Sea Pines, you might also like to go to Harbour Town where the "famed lighthouse" and nice shops are.

Have fun! Let us know about your trip. Maybe we'll see you. ;)

Oh, Marley's has a great little ice cream place that's open seasonally, if your birthday boy might enjoy that.

I thought of another restaurant that fits your criteria - The Crazy Crab. There's one on the right just after you get off the bridge onto the Island. Great views of the water, fun decor, not expensive, best hush puppies! There's another one of these in Harbour Town, but the view's entirely different.

Thank you so much SussieBea! Now I cant wait to get there. It is a bit of a drive (5 hours) for us but we just cant wait to see the Resort. I have not been to HHI in 15 years and most of it is different now.

We want to see the resort before we decide if/when to buy more points for HH.

Thanks again!!!!
Elizabeth

Elizabeth - It's an 11-hour drive for us, and well worth it! I can't wait to hear about your weekend.
