Last minute trip over Memorial Day...

We're considering a last minute trip over Memorial Day weekend, Thursday until Monday or Tuesday. How are the crowds? We have a 3 year old and an infant that will be 10 months. We're thinking of staying at AKV in a 1 bedroom. We've never stayed here before and usually book a 2 bedroom, so I'm wondering which area to stay in, Jambo or Kidani. Also, anything special going on at the hotel over that weekend? We'll go to the parks for a little bit each day, but may spend more time than usual at the resort since AKV is a little out of the way.

According to AllEars, Disney reports:

The Lowest Attendance --
January (except New Year's Day) until just prior to Presidents' Week in February
The week following Labor Day until the week prior to Thanksgiving
The week following Thanksgiving until mid-December

More Moderate Attendance:
After Presidents' week in February through early March
Late April through early June (except Memorial Day weekend)
Columbus Day Weekend (October)
The first part of Thanksgiving week

Highest Attendance:
Presidents' week in February
Mid March through Late April ("Spring Break")
Memorial Day weekend
Mid June through Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day and weekend
Christmas week through New Year's Day

Kidani has a wonderful splash area and the pool even has a small slide for the 3 year old. I would think you would like the layout of Kidani's 1 bedroom better as well. In Jambo there is only 1 tub in the bathroom and it doubles as the shower area. Kidani has 2 bathrooms in the 1 bedroom, so there's a regular bath tub, as will as a jacuzzi tub, and also a shower stall.

However, if you were going to rely on counter service, Jambo is more convenient, but that's about all Jambo has over Kidani.

Only the DTD bus stops first at Jambo, so even getting a seat on a bus to a park is easier if you are staying in Kidani.

Have a great trip. We have found Memorial weekend to be as crowded as an above post indicates, but we have never been sorry we went to WDW then!

PS. We have also gone to Vero for that time period. It has splash attractions at the pool for little ones too.

Sorry, I cant help but thought only on the Dis would we say "last minute trip" planning something 5 months away lol

Thanks everyone! I am a little worried about the crowds, especially since we just got back from a "low" time and it was pretty crowded.

It is crazy that 5 months is last minute, but that's DVC! Haha

We have arrived on Memorial Day twice and the day after once since 2010. We have been at Epcot and HS on Memorial Day in the past. Epcot got a little crowded later in the day (after 1pm). HS last year on Memorial Day was not bad at all. We stayed there until about 2pm. Just avoid HS on the weekend if you are not Star Wars fans.

Last year Friday was 24 hours of disney; we did it and loved it. It was a bit crowded but manageable
