Last Minute Trip Insurance

I received a call this morning from a friend who forget to buy trip insurance for an upcoming Disney cruise.

He is not worried about trip cancellation, only medical coverage.

Is it possible to get last minute medical coverage from any insurer?

I've done it, so it must be possible. I think the only issue with getting it close to the cruise might be preexisting conditions, but I think we bought medical insurance about a week before our cruise last year.
