We are taking a trib in Feb. Since we were not planning on going we are making it an economical trip.
What would be a nice place to stay near Disney that fits 5?
We will be there for 7 nights. I can get POR for $1100, so it has to be a better deal than that! LOL
Breakfast included would be nice too! LOL

We will be arriving Feb 25th and leaving March 4th. I do have a voucher for 2 nights at the baymont hotel I may use, so then I would only need lodging from the 27th to the 4th (5 nights).

because they haven't switched over yet, they are giving very good rates, we have a res in 2 wks for a 2bd kidsuite for $103/night, that includes breakfast as well. We stayed in Oct and we love it!! You have to call them directly though, they have a toll free number but I don't have it right now.

on the condodirect

there is a blue tree (very close to WDW) that might do for you. Not a fancy place at all - no activties - but it is clean. you need the 2-bedroom.

otherwise

www.hotelkingdom.com - if you can trust this site

www.hotelmartusa.com
on with the Disney area first - these are the bigger places
then
on with Orlando

We have stayed at the Comfort Suites Maingate East before and been very happy. I checked on hotelmartusa.com and their average rate for that hotel for your time period is $76.29. The rooms are large mini-suites and it includes a fairly decent continental breakfast (yogurt, fruit, juice, coffee, cereal, pastries, freshly made waffles).

The choicehotels.com site lists the rate from $110. If you book on the choicehotels.com site, they have a low price guarantee. You book with choice, then fill out a form stating where you found a lower rate. They check out the source and then modify your reservation to the lower rate less a 10% discount.

phorsenuf: Hi there! We're a family of 5 also! I don't have any answers for your post since I'm planning our 1st ever trip to WDW. I hope you don't mind my question to you....but from 1 family of 5 to another----if you had the time to save up, would it, in your opinion, be worth it to stay onsite if it was your 1st trip to the world? I've just started researching, but onsite for this summer is quite high, IMHO, so I'm trying to find out if it is "worth it". I'm finding that accomodations for 5 are pretty limited---except POR with the trundle bed. Values only hold 4. I see in your signature that you've been onsite quite a few times, so I hope you don't mind my asking. Thanks for any input on this!

wdw doesn't have many choices for families of 5 or 6 for that matter.

the POR trundle bed plus 2 double(full) beds.

FW cabins - 2 bunk beds (kids love these) - a full bed in the bedroom and a murphy bed in the livingroom - this place has a kitchen so you can save some money on food.

all the deluxes except - AKL and WL.

the DVC resorts - with 5 you need to stay in a 2-bedroom - very expensive even renting from a DVC member (which you can do) - OKW is the best buy this way.

WDW plans for a family of 4.

if you have more kids - they seem to except you to pay for it!

oh - OKW has 2 queen beds in the second bedroom, a king in the master and a queen sleeping sofa in the livingroom.

If you have the time to save up then yes, stay on-site. Even tho this is a budget trip, we'll probably end up staying at POR. Its so hard to resist! LOL
You get free parking (I need to add that to my budgets), plus the bus service is great! My kids are older so if they want to go to DQ and we don't, they can take the bus.
We stayed offsite for our first trip. The second one we stayed on-site and I thought my DH was going to have a stroke when I told him how much is was (this was before I knew better). Now he tells everyone to stay on-site! LOL
For us it seems like we are "removed" from the world when we stay onsite. We don't see the walmarts and convenience stores and so on. We feel as if we are in a separate world and love it. Its so easy to get "lost" in that feeling.
I say go for it! LOL
