Was contemplating a last minute, or at least by my planning standards, trip for a weekend in mid-August 2011. When I went on my last trip in Jan of '09 I definately booked most of my ADRs well in advance. Since I'm unable to this time, is the DDP even worth it? Anybody deal with using the DDP as part of a last minute trip?

Just go to Disney dining and see if you can get any ADRs that you want :confused3 You can make ADRs this close out if even if you haven't booked a vacation yet. Just make sure to cancel if you change your mind :thumbsup2

I just decided that we're going to WDW July 10. I had no problem booking Boma, Le Cellier lunch, Artist Point, Flying Fish, or '50's PT. I even moved ressies around several times. The only thing we wanted that wasn't available was 'Ohana.

I agree- you don't have to be on the plan to book reservations or see availability. Check it out first, book if you can, then add within the timeframe the package requirement is. (I forget the number of days exactly)

We just decided last weekend to go the 2nd week in August. We're doing the dining plan with 5 people and got every reservation we wanted, including Le Cellier. I even had choices for dining times. I definitely think you'll find plenty of openings, especially if you aren't stuck on specifics.

Yeah, I think the first response hit it right on -- if contemplating adding DDP or DxDP as a "last-minute" trip addition, try to book the ADRs you want before committing to adding the plan.

The only drawback to this approach is that you will have to pre-pay at CRT or any of the dinner shows and then get a refund later after you "pay" with credits at the actual time.

August is strange this year. Lots of good restaurants still available. I have changed my dates for our trip by a week and was able to get every reservation tha twe wanted for our party of 8 including Le Cellier lunch and most character meals at times that we would normally book which means before rope drop. It's easier to book this trip then our October trip last month or the one for last month. I would expect the restaurants to be fuller as free dinning has being offered twice for the end of August.

We just booked 2 weeks ago for a trip starting July 12. Before adding dining, I checked availability as others have suggested. I was surprised to get decent times for most of our ADRs with the exception of a later than I would like 'Ohana, and later than I am willing to eat Chef Mickey's. All in all, I was pretty pleased. Give it a try!

Yep just booked last week and got dinner at CRT, lunch at Le Cellier, Yak and Yeti dinner, 50's dinner, and CP dinner. Everything we wanted and at great times.
