Last minute trip-bad idea?

I want to bring my two 5 year old twin girls to Disney for Christmas time. Our two options is to go Nov 30-Dec 4 or Dec 14-18. Are they both going to be crazy busy due to the holidays and Star Wars? Should we just go next year?

I will have a disability pass which I found does help a bit but I am still pretty sick and don’t want to fight huge crowds. Thanks

I think crowds are huge at Disney all the time now, but those really seem like good weeks. I'm not sure there are too many other times that would be better with the exception of one or two weeks randomly in January/February.

I think your last-minute trip is a great idea. I hope you can find the accommodations you want.

First off, I chuckled at the "Last Minute Trip" title for a trip that is months away. It shows how much planning people are doing in advance.

I have always enjoyed the week after Thanksgiving. Most of the country has been off for several days or even a week so they don't take that week off. The Christmas decorations are up and the weather is great. That was my go to week when the kids were young enough to miss some school.

I think you'll be fine, personally I'd go for the second dates just because that gets you away from Thanksgiving and Christmas school breaks a bit. :)

Go for it. Hardly “last minute” by my standards, although I know we’re all different in how we view vacation planning. I think I like the 12/14-12/18 date better - that second ride at SWGE opens 12/5 so maybe everyone and their brother will be at DHS and the other parks will be manageable (or we’ll have runs of longer hours like we’re seeing with SWGE opening in a few weeks).

I think you'll be good with either of those weeks. We did 12/15-12/22 last year. It was busy by the end but you'll be gone by that point. I'd keep an eye on SWGE opening and how crowds grow - maybe avoid HS if it is nuts but I think you can have a great trip. I planned last minute last year - booked in late October and got every reservation I wanted using the December cancellation thread and reservation finders.

That's not really what I'd consider last minute to be honest.

Also I'd certainly go.
Its not going to be anywhere as crazy as going Christmas week into New Years is.

We have been during both those time periods. It is a great time to go! The parks are beautiful during the Holiday Season. We found it less crowded the time we went during your second set of dates--right before the masses get out of school and farther away from Thanksgiving--- but we only did that week once because DD always had some kind of performance or party right before school got out. We have done that week after Thanksgiving several times. If it doesn't conflict with anything for your kids, I would say December 14-18, but either time would be fine. Go for it!!

Personally, I would go with the Nov. 30 - Dec. 4 dates since Rise of the Resistance opens on Dec. 5th in HS. You might have slightly lower crowds for those dates versus the Dec. 14 - 18 dates. Unless you are really big Star Wars fans and want to make sure you are able to ride both rides. In that case, do with the later dates.

I agree with this. Crowds should taper off after 11/30 and I would think it would be generally quiet until RotR opens on Dec. 5, so those dates may be a little sweet spot. OP, I think you could plan a really nice trip with your DD's within the next 3 1/2 months. We just took 2 newbies a few weeks ago and I planned that trip in about 4 months. We kept it fairly simple - only had one ADR, but also did two dessert parties for great seating and something special - and we all had a blast.

Go for it! We decided last week to go Aug 28-Sept 2...you are planning way better than we did :)
