Last minute shoppers

I'm always a last minute Christmas shopper. I'm doing a lot of Christmas shopping this week. I always tend to shop on Christmas Eve as well.

But I never panic. Or at least I do my best to stay calm.:p

I went out today. I hate people. So many were SO rude and just plain mean! Lines were a suggestion as were the driving lanes in the parking lot. People were just darting out into traffic without so much as turning their heads to make sure they weren't going to get hit. I've never encountered it like this before. So much for the "reason for the season." It reminded me of the year my oldest, now 14, at age three noticed the family arguing one year over who knows what. Something very innocuous;more of a debate. She stood up, hands on hips and exclaimed,"Merry Christmas! It's the stinkin' holidays!":rotfl:

We are waiting until Wed to finish our shopping, not by choice, but we have a buyer for our house and hopefully will close Tuesday but knowing how Quicken loans (another whole long story that has been going on since July) has treated him so far we are not holding our breath.

I guess DH and I are going with gifts for each other this year; we don't always so I don't really have anything in mind. I'll shop tonight or tomorrow night...anybody got any good ideas for neat guy stuff?

What does he like to do?

You posted this on Saturday, when there were still 6 full shopping days left. I guess I'm warped, 6 days is NOT last minute. Get back to us on Wednesday.

I know....I consider "last minute" shopping to be December 22 or later. In the Sunday December 13 newspaper, there were ads attempting to entice "last minute shoppers." Since the Christmas shopping season starts around Labor Day these days, I suppose December 13 IS last minute.

I always start early (like "see something in the summer that I just have to tuck away" early) but I always fnish late. I picked up gift cards and scratch tickets yesterday, and batteries today. I am still waiting for one more thing I ordered, but it's one of DH's little presents, so he won't mind if it's late.

Mary wasn't even in labor yet on December 22nd. :duck:

If I had to wait on someone to go with me, I would still be waiting on my shopping from 5 years ago. DH only has one person to buy for (me) and he hasn't even started yet. I keep thinking I am finished until I find out someone I wasn't expecting is going to be at Christmas, so I needed another gift! I ordered my final gifts on Saturday from Macys. I have never bought from Macys on-line, I got an update a few minutes ago that they are ready to ship. They are shipping Fed-ex so I am a little worried, I don't have the best of luck with them.

Well... it's Monday the 21st. School doesn't get out until 3pm on the 23rd, so my available time's limited. I haven't found anything for the stockings yet, and have a few more things to find for both DD and DH. Then 2 presents for the family we spend Christmas Eve with. I need presents for 3 nieces, 1 nephew, my brother and my sister, but those won't be exchanged until the 27th, so I have some time... wish I had some ideas! OH and then there are my coworkers' gifts. UPS says they'll be delivered to my home on the afternoon of the 23rd, which is too late. Not sure what to do. They are just token gifts (8 packs of petit fours- and I was going to put a $5 Dunkin Donuts card with each), but I really don't want to do just gift cards and end up with all this at home. Grrrr... they said delivery by the 21st...

I'm good now. I just started 2 weeks ago and some needs to be shipped to relatives in MN. I picked up the last thing today. I did the order pickup in store at Best Buy. The joke was on me - I did that to try and avoid a long line at checkout. The order pickup had a 40 minute line.
The regular lines to check out had no one in them - the cashiers looked bored. I guess everyone was doing order pickup today.

I'll be sending the MN relatives out tomorrow. At least they are all adults (parents and an elderly Aunt) so they should be ok with getting them a little late.

Walgreens, CVS, Wawa, Acme supermarkets (9am-1pm) and a few other places are open Christmas Day. Plenty of time to start my shopping.

UPDATE: I just checked the delivery information and it looks like the package with my co-workers' gifts is at the post office up the street, scheduled for delivery tomorrow (or is that today??)- TUESDAY! YAY!! I can get those presents together tomorrow evening and then start wrapping everything else. I'll make it... but all the "what do I buy" and having no available time (not to mention no available $$$) is really starting to suck the fun out of Christmas.

Wawa sells tons of gift cards on Christmas Day. The Holiday themed ones are often sold out before December 25, so procrastinators have to settle for the generic year-round design.
