Last minute room discounts?

What is Disney's usual policy with available rooms at the last minute? Do they usually unload them at a discount on expedia or do they just let the inventory go unused? They have a lot of rooms available during spring break this year but all prices seem to be full high season rack rates. In comparison the Swan and Dolphin (which I know they don't operate) are offering discounts up to 40% off.

They do not offer any last minute discounts like other hotel chains. You can check mousesavers.com for any current discount codes. Peak times like spring break are usually rack rate or blacked out because there is usually no problem filling rooms during that time.

Also, if you already have a room booked via Disney Destinations, or something similar, you have to see what their fee is, if any, for a last minute package change. It might not be cost effective to change if only a 10% discount, etc

I booked room only so that i can changed up to just before i arrived without a penalty. I plan on adding the tickets to my room the day before I fly down.

I've also been checking easter rates daily and can't believe all the rooms still available. I not only have my resort of choice, but also the room category of choice. I would think disney would want to fill those rooms, but who knows and perhaps they have filled enough rooms at rack rate that they don't need to fill any more..... In any event, I'm also curious if anyone knows what happens to all the empty rooms. Expedia also has a lot of rooms available, but at full price. Seems not many people are biting this year.

i am so on the fence of taking a quick 4 day trip next weekend but the prices were Higher than I anticipated so I may just hold on to the may trip already planned

I also did this, but was told by CM that I had to add 3 days in advance, if adding to. But I guess you can just buy them too, right?

One time when we drove well and were going to arrive a day early I called them to see what the rate would be to add on a night, and yes they had availability, but yes it was going to be expensive (more than what we were paying per night)- rack rate, basically. So, we just stayed at the Comfort Inn for that night, we were too tired to do disney yet anyway.
