My parents will be passing through WDW for one night in late January and I would like to surprise them with a DVC unit. However, I have 2 issues: I won't know the exact date until maybe a week out and, most importantly, I'm still waiting for the seller to receive the Deed for execution on the HH resale we're buying. So we are 3-4 weeks min from being on the system.

What is the likelihood of securing a studio on such short notice? Waht is the min # of days prior to arrival to make a ressie?

Thanks.

I was wondering the same thing as I will not be closing until June 1st, and was thinking of visiting in June sometime. My plan was to make a room only reservation (which can be cancelled up to 5 days in advance with no penalty), and then see if I can book a DVC resort immediately after closing.

So, anyways, what is the mininum number of days prior to arrival that you may make a DVC reservation (provided there is availabilty)?

you can make same day reservations - if there is availability (this is the problem)

also remember that at the 60 day mark any unrented DVC villa go into the CRO system. and can be sold to the general public. So more than just DVC members can get any of these places.

tell me what days you want and I can look now - but remember the availability only works when you can call and make the reservation.

The big "IF" here, is if there is availability. But provided there is availablity, you can reserve a unit and stay in it the same day, so 0 days would be the minimum.

Good luck to you both in your last-minute ressie plans. End of January I expect you might be able to find something. As for June, who knows.

I purchased points and that night used them to stay at the VWL.

If you purchase through Disney then you can make reservation now for June 05 as long as you will be closed before your trip.

I received the paperwork from Disney yesterday, along with a temporary DVC member card. I thought there might be some remote possibilty of doing this but didn't think that it would be a standing policy. It looks like I may be able to reserve now. I will contact MS next week. The closing date on the docs is actually May 3rd, 2005. Cool, I'm glad it will all work out!

I confirmed with DVC today that reservations may be made prior to closing, IE I can make them now, even though I close May 3rd, and the use year begins June 1. The stay must begin on May 3rd or later, and I must close prior to staying. When I asked if I would be borrowing from my nest year I was told that I was actually reserving on "Developer Points" and that would be adjusted at closing.
