Last minute ressie - likelihood?

Hi All,

I'm wondering about the availability of a studio at either SSR or OKW for one night - either Tue Oct 12th or Wed Oct 13th. I arrived home too late to call member services, but am curious about it. Thanks in advance

You never know until you call. If it was for 2 days or more, I'd say the chances were slim. But for a single night, you might get lucky.

I called MS around 4 pm today to see if I could downgrade the 1st night of our April trip (during MA school vacation week) from a 1 BR at BLT to a studio, because we're flying in quite late. I fully expected to be told no, since it is the week before Easter. Not only was a studio available, I had my choice of standard, lake or MK view. So, anything can happen!

I think you have three things going for you:
1) you are trying to get a studio for only one night
2) its at one the two largest resorts (SSR and OKW)
3) its in the middle of the week

I agree - I think because of the resorts you are interested in for that one night, your chances may be pretty good.

I am always surprised at availability, especially as you hover around the 30 day mark and members let go of reservations last minute.

you always have a chance. last year we ended up going around new years, got SSR 1 brm. We had an illness so our regularly scheduled trip was postponed. Then decided on new years around the beginning of dec. At first we had to do a cash night for ssr for new years eve, and the day before.

However a couple days before the trip, we were converted to a points trip. I kept calling in and checking days separately too.

we were extremely lucky, but had a cash room reserved for the same accommodations.

Within the 7 day window you also have other people canceling due to family illnesses and what ever bad emergency you can dream up. So, keep calling right up until your trip.

Success!!! I booked a studio at OKW (my first choice) on Wednesday the 13th (also my first choice). MS comes through again! We've been DVCers for almost 5 years now and have always gotten the requested ressie. We have been wait-listed for past ressies, but each time the wait has come through.

I was also going to say chances were good... we did a last-minute trip this past July and booked MAYBE a week in advance... needed 3 nights - got 2 nights at BWV (our first choice) and one night at SSR (the ONLY thing available for that one night, but hey, there WAS availability!)

Glad to hear you were able to get what you were looking for. I was also going to comment that for all the reasons most others said you should have pretty good luck. I usually plan in advance, however have had good success last minute. Glad it worked out. Have a great time.
