Last minute Reservation Modification - No Holding?

So I had a reservation this week for Wednesday - Saturday (12/3-12/6). I cancelled the first night last night by going into the reservation to modify the reservation. I fully expected the points for the 1 night to go into holding, but they did not seem to do so. They showed as regular points so I moved those points to my July reservation (to get rid of the banked ones that were on this reservation). Should the points have gone into holding or is because I modified that the points did not do so?

A couple of weeks ago I booked a last minute quick stay for my son's birthday for this upcoming weekend. At first all I could get was a 1 BR at OKW, then I was able to switch it to a 1BR at SSR, and finally last night I snagged BRV, which is our fav for the holidays, so here's hoping they get that dang tree up! Since we're within the 30 days, I assumed that modifying and using less points would mean that the point difference would go into holding, but they surprisingly did not, they were just returned to my balance. Is that how it works if you don't change the dates of your stay, or was...

Ahhh I missed that thread. Well, I guess it is happening to a few of us.

The coding issue that has caused Kidani owners to not be able to book Jambo online at 11 months was spotted at about the same time as the failure to put points into holding happened.
I wonder if whatever DVC did in their most recent fiddling w/ the booking site had a few unintended consequences like breaking the holding function & not allowing Kidani owners to book Jambo .
