Last Minute Questions......

My wife's friend is booking a trip to WDW for March 13th. Now my wife wants to go in March even though our points for this UY are banked. I have 2 trips already planned for next UY - after Aug, so we have a small balance of points left. I'm assuming we can borrow those remaining points for a trip in March? Also when I called MS there is no availability anywhere for a studio for the 13th through the 18th of March (big shock). If I were to get on a waiting list the 31 day rule doen't really effect the points does it? I'm also assuming that if there were to be cancellations they would happen before 31 days...hence around February 10th, friday?
Lastly......if we to for go the points and book the Polynesian...do DVC members get a discount there??

You can borrow points from your next use year to take a trip in the current use year if you so chose. Keep in mind that once borrowed, those points cannot be returned to their original use year. If you don't use them before the end of your current use year, they will expire.

The waitlist will expire for you at the 31 day mark unless you call back and tell MS you want to stay on it. No points are actually borrowed until the reservation is made. If you make the reservation 31 days or less from arrival and end up cancelling it, the points go into the holding account.

Your best chance of getting a cancellation will be at the 30-31 day mark. You are correct, anyone who isn't sure of his/her plans will likely cancel then to avoid the holding account.

if booking for cash, I believe there is a discount, but I am not sure how much.

No cash discount for DVC members at any non-DVC resort. So , no discount at the Poly.

The DVC member cash discount is 25% off rack (when available) and is only applicable to the DVC resorts.
