We're planning a Spring Break trip the 2nd week of March. I have the room only resort booked, dining reservations are being made today. I will be purchasing military salute tickets at our local base.
My husband is active duty and currently out of state training, which just got extended and he wont be home until just a few weeks before we leave. I was waiting for him to get home to purchase the salute tickets because they are nonrefundable and he has not received official approval of leave during that time yet. (We've never had a problem taking leave ever before, but I just know the one time I jump the gun it will fall apart. :rolleyes2)
So if I don't get the tickets until a week or two before we arrive, will all the fastpasses be gone? My kids are older and have been to both Disney World and Disneyland before, they dont care about meeting Elsa and Anna and if we have to skip Peter Pan they'll be ok. But the 7DMT is a huge thing they are interested in, as are all the bigger rides. I feel like fastpass (along with rope drop) is probably a pretty big factor in having a successful spring break trip. I'm having fears of buying the tickets last minute, signing on and seeing NO fastpasses for the whole trip or something.
Advice? Ideas? Help!

You may have trouble getting 7DMT but if you do keep trying something may open. It might not be the time you want. Besides 7DMT & A&E you should be able to get whatever you want just not the times you are looking for.

There will still be FPs. Probably not at the ideal times or even the ideal rides, but you'll be able to FP rides.

If Mine Train doesn't look like it's available, search for one person at a time. Book the first person and then one by one continue to look for overlapping times for your total group.

Keep checking when you have time because slots can always open up... people change their plans often and with digital FPs, it's easy to Modify choices.

Shouldn't have a problem. My son and I are going March 6 - 12 and he is retired military. We won't get his tickets until we actually get there since there isn't a base anywhere close to us. I have an AP so I can book mine now but why bother. Normally, we don't book ours until the night before anyway so we aren't worried. I think if you get them any time before you go and keep trying for mine train you should be able to get it, if not rope drop should work or even a before park opens breakfast. The time may be a little later in the day but if you aren't picky, you should be able to make it work.
