Last minute plan change...advice welcome!!

i have Pirates and Pals booked for December 16. We are spending the first part of the day in the MK. Was never considering MVMCP this trip but now rethinking should I switch out and do the party instead? We will have been in the park from 8:00 am. Dinner 5:30 at 1900 Park Fare.

I was so pleased with these plans made oh so long ago, but as crazy DIS'ers tend to do, I'm rethinking things now. Lol. Any thoughts from those that have done these events? Thanks!!

We did this for MNSSHP, the kids had said they would prefer to do pirate cruise, along with makeovers earlier in the day. Had planned on it for months. Well once the party started and we started seeing clips of the parade etc... They quickly changed their mind. We went and had a great time, my DS 4 said it was "like the best day ever"...but he was on a candy high lol.

We enjoyed so much, we decided to plan a last minute trip for the purpose of doing the Christmas party.

So my thought, is go for it....you may regret it once you're there. If you change your mind then it may be sold out. I know the last 2 parties, the 18th and 22nd, already have sold out.

If you're going to keep this ADR, I would probably skip the party. You'll be leaving MK around 4:30 and you won't return until right at 7:00 or maybe even later. If seeing the speciality characters is your goal, you'll be in long lines all night. People start lining up for these around 6:00.

Something similar here. We planned the Pirate party on a day we were also in MK. As we were leaving to go to the cruise, everyone was starting to line up along main street for the parade. My kids wanted to see that, and we couldn't because of the reservations. Luckily we had 2 days planned for MK, so the next day they were able to see the parade, but in hindsight, we should've just stayed in the park.

Oh yes, for sure cancel the adr...i assumed that was what the OP meant

I agree to cancel the ADR if you want to get in line to see the characters. If your family doesn't care about the character meet and greets then you'd could keep the dinner and arrive close to the party time. We go to the parties and don't do the characters so I've had no problems with 5/5:30 dinner plans. I'd try to sleep in though because you will be up late - best to stay at the party as late as you can. YMMV with little kids of course - mine are teenagers!
