Just trying to figure how much cash we need to bring...we will charge our table service meals to our room key but I'm wondering if you can use your room key at all of the cs places too. Say i want a margarita, water, a dole whip etc...can I use my room key or does it have to be cash? Is there anywhere in particular where you can only use cash? So, if I can use my room key for most of the dining and shops, will I only really need cash for tipping or can they add the tip to your room key also.????? Sorry, so confused!!! Hope someone can help me. Thanks

Hmmmm.. I guess I never really thought about it, but I guess if they are set up for charge cards, then you could use your room key. I am not sure all places are set up for charge cards like the stands.. popcorn, any of the smaller stands where you can purchase a drink and a small snack.

Anyone else have more experience with this?

All the snack stands and CS I have been to take a room key charge.

I keep 20 in cash for snacks just incase I always end up with it for the next day.

All the counter service places I have been to have taken the room key charge.

But..The snack stands..there have been some that do not take the room charge. One I remember is the popcorn stand outside lights motor action at MGM did not. I stood in line, a long one, and got up there ordered my drinks and popcorn, and she said sorry, I can only take cash. Don't know if that was because her machine was down, or what. I was MAD, there should have been a sign saying cash only. Now I always bring a $20 bill, just in case some random snack stand can't take cards.

All CS...and most snack carts take your room key....

Dont remember where i was that didnt take it....but
there are a few...

I only ran into one snack stand that didn't, and that's because their machine was down. And the hair wrapping place at MGM only took cash.

My teens had charging privs on their room keys; it was handy that they could buy themselves a drink or whatever when we weren't together.

We have never run in to anywhere that would not let us use our cards for everything, shopping, food and tips. But I can see where if their swipe thing is down then its cash only. We bring about 20 bucks in cash with us to the park mostly so we can make change for the pressed coin fun.

There are a few places in the Epcot Worldshowcase that do not accept room charges. The crepe stand comes to mind as one of them.

The only place I remember not taking the room card was the slushie stand in France. Other than that, we were able to use it everywhere we tried.
