I just booked a last minute trip today (leaving in two days!!) and I'd love some ideas on how to surprise the kids. I've never been able to do that because I always book a year in advance and plan my brains out. This was on a whim and I'm nervous! I'd love some easy and free ideas to surprise the kids at breakfast tomorrow. We'll leave the following day at 4am.

Make Mickey shaped pancakes for breakfast and then something along the lines of... wouldn't you rather eat Mickey waffles? or wouldn't you rather see Mickey in person? Then say: how about we do that tomorrow!

I second the mickey pancakes, unless you have a Mickey shaped muffin pan or sandwich cutter, etc. (I've been making mickey shaped PB&J, and my DD who never eats loves it; best add on item from the Disney store ever! plus I can make Mickey shaped french toast)... Anyway, it's a little late to go buy special pans so I'd look on-line for ways to make Mickey shaped pancakes, etc. in the morning for breakfast. Or maybe find a souvenir from your recent trip or a photo from your recent trip and have it sitting out on the table in the morning with a little sign next to it saying Disney Countdown X hours left.

I LOVE this idea!!!!! I put a family castle pic into a 4x6 frame and I'm going to write on the frame. I'm going to add "don't tell your brother" because I want to surprise him on the drive. He's 5 and I think we can get away with that at his age :)

Start a conversation and steer it with remember the time we did X at Disney? Wouldn't that be fun to do again someday? How about tomorrow?

Good idea!!

GREAT!! We made Mickey pancakes, the first time we successfully used our mold LOL I placed a framed photo of us in front of Cinderella Castle and I wrote on the glass "Disney World countdown 21 hours" and put it in front of me when they weren't looking. I also added "shhh, don't tell Liam" so they wouldn't shout out the destination. He only knows that we're going to see 'some friends' and it's going to be a very long drive.

They've almost finished packing and are still in disbelief! I'm super happy that I was able to finally surprise them. In over 11 years, I've never been able to pull that off!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

On one trip we packed in secret. And woke up the kids and told them we had to take dad to work. (He works 75 minutes from home) We told them to just go back to sleep and I would wake them up once we got home. 3 hours later our DD was asking why we were in a different state. :)
