Last Minute Ideas?

Maybe I'm completely insane, but ...
We just got back from WDW a couple weeks ago.
DS, 4, cries all the time that he misses the monorail and Disney. I miss it too. I'm debating booking a short last-minute trip for him, my 4 month old and I. I'm thinking just for 3-4 days, and on Disney property, preferably monorail. I'm thinking if we took it easy it would be an amazing little trip.
We're in the middle of kitchen/bathroom renovations that DH is doing himself, and he has no interest in going back to WDW right now, so we could be out of his hair for a weekend
My family thinks I'm crazy.
Does anyone think it would work?

Won't he just cry that he misses it again after this trip?? In fact, won't he cry MORE since he knows that this round of crying got him a return trip?

Just the airfare from Ontario must be incredibly expensive, much less a weekend at a deluxe resort. Personally, I would put the money into the kitchen/bathroom renovations.

As much as I love WDW too, I have to agree with Aliceacc. If you give in to the crying this time, next time it will just be worse. Help DS learn that a trip to WDW is a once-in-a-long-while special treat. Perhaps let him "assist" you in planning the next visit?

Is there not anything local that is interesting? My kids know that we have a waterpark, awesome kid's museum, Atlanta's aquarium and Zoo, and beaches and the mountains within 2 hours away. We do Disney every year now, but we fill in with other stuff. In the winter we go somewhere where there is snow, etc. Good luck.

I agree with the previous posters - I wouldn't give in to DS's crying (as heart-breaking as it may be) and take him on another trip. Another poster mentioned finding fun, local activities to do and I think that's a great idea (museums, aquariums, library, local amusement park, beach, etc., etc).

To satisfy the Disney bug:

1. Do you have another trip planned to WDW in the near future? Perhaps DS can help you plan. You and he can design your own countdown chart.

2. Whenever my family and I become itchy for WDW, we visit YouTube and watch a bunch of WDW related videos. It's almost like we're there. We especially look at videos of rides and other attractions that we have never done.

3. Make Disney-themed craft projects. We're going back to the World in February 2009 (and it cannot come soon enough for my DD and DS!). My DD's favorite ride is "Splash Mountain" and she was very disappointed that there were no SM tee-shirts available for purchase (there just seemed to be towels and picture frames). This weekend, we'll be visiting a local craft store to buy items so she can make her own SM tee-shirt.

Good luck and remember ... Disney will always be there!

go for it - they are only small once - and you'll enjoy it - i'm in the same position - we just came back from a june trip - and both my 3yr old and i miss it (like my older kids) - and i'm thinking that if i can swing it why not - they are not going to be that age again - with that wonder - and if you go someplace local it''s not 'getting away' - i'm really looking into doing the same

We went to Disney for the first time in March 1998, when DD was 5. We went back again in October 1998, and again in May 1999. We were fortunate in being able to fly cheaply (BIL is a flight attendant and in those days we could buy air passes thru his benefits for about $35 rt BOS/MCO), and we stayed with my sis and bil, offsite, to cut costs. There's no way we could afford it now, but that sure was a special time, especially with DD and my niece so young...it was magical pixiedust:
