so we are now less than 24 hours before arrival and my partner is upset about the bridge closure at CBR. Mind u we don't even know that we were going to be affected by it so he called Disney to complain and now they have me at the boardwalk no price change no affecting my free dining. But I feel sad now. I've spent the past year excited to finally get a renovated room at CBR. I love that place, now less than 24 hours before arrival I got CBR taken from me. I know I should be excited for Disney and that this is a deluxe but I can't help but feel like I've now lost part of my vacation

I understand completely. Ever since having to switch to CBR for free dining years ago, we haven't been able to stay anywhere else. We have stayed at Boardwalk and really liked it, but I totally get your disappointment.

I think it is amazing that Disney switched you to Boardwalk at no extra charge! That is a huge amount of savings right there. You never know, you just may forget about it all as soon as you arrive. Hope you have a magical stay!

I think you will enjoy the Boardwalk. You are walking distance to Epcot during the food and wine festival. Great location, wonderful pool, it's a lovely resort.
:sunny:

OMG I would be doing jumping jacks! I've stayed there twice and I LOVE IT. So close to everything. No WAY would I be upset about that. Give it a chance... you're lucky!!

Not for anything, but Boardwalk is AMAZING!!!!! I would be so excited if I were you!!! You can take the boat to HS and WALK to Epcot!!! You got SO LUCKY!

The way the resort prices are increasing, I'd be thrilled to be able to experience a deluxe, you can stay moderate anytime.

I'm sure I'll be happy once I'm there, I end up here on the boards about 180 days before my trip starts and rereading things and participating and the thread on foods you love at CBR got me really excited to get my breakfast Cuban! And the open your hotel door to the Florida outdoors.

i don't care about the pool, I don't use them, although this time I packed my suit to go to the quiet pool while I was doing my laundry.

I'm worried about the parking, been reading that boardwalk is a pain for guests towards the end of the nights, especially with food and wine (I'm cheap, valet is not in my vocabulary)

The only thing I'm liking is the walk to Epcot (done it before) but I think I'm gonna have to drive there anyways....something about coming in the main gate and seeing spaceship earth, and getting my picture taken right away, at least once, the rest of the time the gateway will work :)

I'm sure I'll feel differently once we check in. Thankfully we are not using magical express luggage service....the tags all say CBR and I'm sure that would be a delay I don't need

I understand it is disappointing when you have been looking forward to one resort then having to let it go so quickly. :sad1:

But a shift in your heart and head will be totally worth it IMO - I do really love the Boardwalk location - and the ambiance to be sure. pixiedust: Enjoy the friendship boat transportation and vibe. There are so many great restaurants within walking distance - and especially during food and wine. I am sure once you arrive you will be stoked! Enjoy!:cloud9: I would definitely not allow such circumstances to ruin my trip that is for sure!

Wow what an upgrade! I have stayed at CBR and it is ok, nothing to really be missed imho. It certainly is no Boardwalk that is for sure. The fact is you can book CBR at a lower rate anytime but you will never get the Boardwalk at a CBR rate again. Soak it up and change your frame of mind! There are thousands who dream of the upgrade you just got.

So.......... I am waiting to hear how you like it??!!! :) <-----------------JEALOUS
So right now I'm sitting here at the Atlanta airport waiting to board my 12:55 flight.

I am curious to see the type of room we got, in the MDE app the boardwalk finally showed up this morning saying
"Disney's BoardWalk Inn-Water FlSpclAcc OptHr 2Q DyBd"

Been trying to decipher that. Thought my partner was told we were getting a standard courtyard view but given the word water I guess a water view 2 queen plus day bed room. Fl has me guessing. SplAcc I can only assume means special accommodations or special access OptHr is left me clueless too

It definitely looks like it will have 2 queens and a daybed. ;) I am anxious to see what you end up with. :)

By the way, I think that the Boardwalk quiet pool is one of the nicest of the deluxe quiet pools. :)

Good luck.

I felt the same way about walking in the front gates of Epcot BUT .... after staying at Yacht Club for the first time 3 years ago, we are hooked on the IG entrance to Epcot. It's fantastic. So much fun. We even walk in for breakfast at France and back out to the pool. I would pretty much guarantee a complimentary upgrade to the Boardwalk will be something you'll love a few days after checking in. Enjoy!

Opening the motel room door to the Florida weather is not a bonus in my book!

Use the pool. Use the big slide. It is so much fun.

BW at mod rates? I'm so jealous.

I believe "FlSpclAcc OptHr" means it is what WDW refers to as a "Florida Special Accessible" room with optional hearing accommodations. It probably does not have wheelchair accessible features such as a roll-in shower, but may have hand rails in the bath and visual alarms for door knock, telephone, fire alarm, etc. as might be needed for the hearing impaired.

Enjoy your vacation!

I'm sorry I'm not seeing the draw so far. I'm biting my tongue right now in front of my partner but I'd still rather be at CBR. The bathroom setup is gonna be a thorn in my side to fight him for the shower and I feel cramped in this room vs CBR

They didn't even explain anything at checkin about the resort. Where to eat breakfast what my dining plan consisted of etc

You get a bigger room than at CBR. It is a great room. Why didn't your partner talk to you before taking it ? Just asking. Go in with an open mind.

Cause he does what he wants. I had this all planned out and when he heard the bridge was out a week before. the day before we left he started calling to complain even though we have a car and we hadn't been assigned a room yet.

I had planned on asking at checkin for a king even if it was in an affected village we don't need two beds and I had the car. Give the room to a family that needs the beds. Now I feel like I couldn't ask at BW because I didn't know if they had any and they already "upgraded" us

I was also at work till 9pm when he decided to switch us so I couldn't be reached
