Where would you stay in this situation? We are headed to the park this coming Sunday. Originally I was planning on going early and staying all day to watch the parade, but it's looking like it's going to be in the 90s. That's a really long, hot day for my 2-year-old without a nap/break. (We've done it before no problem but add in the heat and I don't think it will go well.) Driving home and back would eat up way too much time (it's about an hour each way without traffic, not to mention getting back and forth from the parking structure, etc.). So I'm toying with the idea of getting a hotel room for one night so I can take my kid back for a nap midday to escape the worst of the heat.

I'm trying to find a hotel that meets the following:

Early check in
Walking distance (10 to 15 minutes)
As nice as possible
Free parking (if possible)
Under $150/night (inclusive of taxes/fees)

***Edited to revise my criteria! After your great responses and doing some research I think I'd rather stay as close as possible so I can walk back for that midday nap.

I'm looking at the Grand Legacy Hotel, which seems to fit the bill. They offer an AP rate that includes an early check in at 2pm. Any thoughts? Any other ideas?

Have you looked at the Motel 6 Anaheim Maingate (on Disney Way) and both Super 8 motels (one on Katella and one on Disneyland Dr.)? They are close to the parks and get good reviews on these boards. Also, try Priceline and Hotwire. Another thought -- would your little one nap in someplace like the lobby of the GCH? There are quieter nooks there and it is air conditioned. You could read a book or catch up on email while your 2 yo naps.

Although a motel, we found Alpine Inn to be very nice. Very walkable, free parking, and a simple breakfast made it a great deal last February.

There are lots of good options in Anaheim on the Hotel Tonight app! Give it a try! You can also find availability, then book directly with the hotel and see if there is a better rate available. I don't know which hotels will have the earliest check in time, most in the area seem to be around 3-4 pm. Have fun!

I would look on hotels.com. I have been seeing a lot of good last minute deals on there. I saw a Marriott hotel on Harbor for $135 and Embassy Suites Anaheim Orange for the same price for July 4th which you would think would be very expensive especially since these were both Suites and free breakfast. If your wanting a 10 minute drive definitely search Orange, CA or Garden Grove, CA which are both down the street from DL. Heck Garden Grove is on Harbor Blvd.

Edited to add:

I'm not sure you will find free parking. But getawaytoday.com has deals with free parking.

Great tip! I wish my kid would nap in his stroller but he just won't! He is a crib napped all the way. He won't even nap in the car.

Thank you so much for telling me about this app! I'm definitely going to use it.

And thank you for the heads up about check in times. I really need something early afternoon to make this work. I guess I'll have to call around and inquire.

To clarify, those will be the "official" check in times. We have also had good luck 4 out of our 5 visits and had a room available right when we checked in at 8am. It helps if the hotel isn't fully booked and you are willing to take whatever they have available.

I had an email from TravelZoo yesterday that said $99/night for Sheraton. I don't know if they charge for parking there (probably do). You may want to check travelzoo for that deal and others.

I'm a few days away. I might do two nights instead of one so we can be at the park at rope drop. It's looking like it will be between the Grand Legacy, Candlewood Suites or Ramada Plaza. Any thing I need to know about these?

I saw this too... actual price for this weekend was $135.
