Well we are off on tuesday. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Just wondered if any of you experienced DLP goers have any hints or tips for a novice.

I have been to WDW but never DLP and i am really looking forward to it. :cool1:

In terms of eating out i have narrowed my evening meal down to Cafe Mickey, Annettes Diner, Planet Hollywood and a couple of others. We won't be able to afford table service every night as we are saving for WDW in Sept. :cheer2:

So basically anything i should know about the parks, any don't miss things, any great shops i should get a couple of things in. (I love anything Disney particular snow globes and kitchenware).

There will be myself, DH and my two boys age 5 and 3.

Any help greatfully received. Cheers guys. :wave2:

Edited to add that we are staying at the Sequoia Lodge(Montana room), so anything you know about the hotel would also be great).

Have a look at this thread for some good idea :)

Given the ages of your boys you are going to spend the most time in Fantasyland. My two top tips would be go to the park for opening (as you'll find that you have done Dumbo, Peter Pan before the park fills up) and get a stroller (as you will walk loads and I suspect even the 5year old will enjoy the standing bit of the stroller)

Have a great time :goodvibes

Have you seen the thread about the DLP secrets? And don't forget to go and visit the dragon under the castle!

If you do go to Planet Hollywood remember to take your copy of the Brits Guide (if you have one), there is a 20% off voucher in the back cover.

I love all the shops at DLRP!!! When looking at snowglobes we did find that Walt Disney Art Classics shop in the Studios was not as busy as the ones in Disneyland Park, therefore giving you a bit more space to choose a snowglobe. Trouble is, its always so hard to decide!!!

Also, the Lion King show is great. To save having to queue for tickets, you can combine watching the show with having a snack at the Videopolis.

This may sound a bit weird but if you hire a stroller i would take maybe a bike lock with you. ours got taken quite a few times while we were on rides. I guess some parents get quite desperate when dealing with tired children :rotfl:

We took a lock first time but only ever used it once. If you keep your receipt you'll get a replacement free of charge.
Also sometimes it may have been moved by CM's to a different location if the number of strollers is causing an obstruction. So you will not always find it where you left it

Hi Leanne

I have some unused vouchers for 20% off at Planet Hollywood - including drinks! If you would like them PM me with your address and I'll pop them in the post to you tomorrow. I have a couple of other money off things that I didn't use which you are also welcome to.

In case I don't get my trippie sorted out in time before you go, heres some info about the pool at sequoia Lodge;
  • It's deep - 1.4 metres at all points, so you may need armbands for the boys.
  • The baby pool is tiny and more like a foot bath.
  • Opening hours last weekend were 7.45 am to 9.45pm.
  • Towels cost two euros each.
  • When we used the pool some teenagers got a little silly on the waterslide so the CM's closed it.
  • The pool is not very warm - if you aren't swimming it will feel very chilly.
  • The pool is in a separate lodge from the main public areas of the Hotel, you will need to go clothed and change once there.
  • I didn't check with DH how much it cost for the locker - but the money was refunded.
If there is anything else you want to know, I'll do my best.
Don't miss the Railway. Unlike WDW there are things to see on the way round - I won't spoil it by telling you what, but its a nice little ride.
Remember to stash away a couple of rolls from breakfast for feeding the birds on the lake as you walk to the parks. My DS is 11 and it was his favourite part of our trip!

good tips?!?! TAKE ME WITH YOU! lol...

my usual tip for first timers has already been posted (go see the lion king.. but don't queue for tickets... buy some food and sit upstairs!)

oh... if you want to ride IASW try getting up there pretty early on in the day as you can't fastpass it... same for peter pan as they often stop the fast passes...

try interchanging "indoor" rides... ie. POTC, peter pan, pinocchio... with the faster, COLDER, outdoorsy ones... if you can.. keep going on POTC when you get cold.. (or get a cup of tea and a donut...)

shopping? use the shopping service.. you can get your stuff taken back to the shop in your hotel for free (stops @ 3pm)...

oh.. and DON'T go shopping in the Disney village shops in the middle of the night, after you've been drinking... you'll spend WAAAAAAYYYYY too much... trust me...
