I usually buy a box of candy for the person who teaches my children the piano at Christmastime. I'm not really sure if she eats candy and the candy outlet where I used to shop closed down, so I'm looking for another idea. I ordered the Kohl's throw blankets that were on sale so we could personalize one for her, but they haven't arrived so I need a back up plan.

The problem is that I don't know much about the teacher personally. She likes to travel to visit family that live out of town and teaches music. That's all I know. I can't buy her cds or sheet music because I don't know what she already has.

I want to spend about $20. I don't know if she drinks coffee and a gift card in general seems more like a tip than a gift, and I don't like that idea.

Do you have any ideas for me?

I decided on Target gift cards this year. I talked to my neighbor who is a Teacher and she suggested the cards saying that they loved them. That way they can buy something personal, food necessities or whatever they choose.

I think a gift card to a music store so that she can buy supplies (or whatever she wants).

At our mall there is a little kiosk that has ornaments that you can personalize. They have clay-type, colored ornaments that are doctors, nurses, basketball players, ballerinas, etc. Anyway, they have all kinds of musical instruments and musical related ornaments.

They look something like this:

(I'm not promoting this site. Just trying to show what they look like.)

I was at Kohl's last night looking for a present for dd's piano teacher..

Ended up seeing socks and gloves by Earth Therapeutics... that are Aloe infused.. supposed to really help with dry skin, etc. Ended up getting her a matching pair of both of those. They're super soft, and feel really nice.. and with harsh winters here, figured they'd be perfect for her.

Also, got her a small box of Godiva chocolates that they had up by the cashier.

The socks and gloves were originally $8 each, on sale for about $5.. and chocolates were about $4.. so with my 30% coupon, I got everything for about $10, :)

DD usually makes notecards for her teachers. (She draws a picture and I scan it/print it on notecards.) She drew an adorable one yesterday for her piano teacher- her piano (complete with the lamp on top), with her cat sitting on the bench (who usually IS sitting on the bench at lessons :) )
