Well, we were supposed to be heading to Brussels and Disneyland Paris in early May, but due to ongoing capacity issues at the airport there, our flight was cancelled. I booked a last minute on the cheap trip to Southern California 5/7-5/14. Trying to do this somewhat cheaply as we did loose some money with non refundable train tickets and such.

Current plan is to fly FK to LAX on 5/7, head straigh to Hollywood and see the Chinese theatre, etc then drive to Anaheim to spend the next 3 days at Disneyland. Unfortunatley, I didnt realize there was the Tink half marathon that weekend making hotel prices for saturday night crazy. Its me, my DH and ou 3 year old son.

CUrrently I can book all 4 nights at the desert in for 791 dollars, which seems insane, but probably the easiest bet.

My other plan is to book one night (saturday) at the Super 8 on Katella for a total of 150 or the comfort inn , then move to either the HoJo for the next 3 nights for 500 dollars or the Park Vue inn for 450. I think I'm willing to move to save 190 dollars. My only concern is that lack of room as my kid will be on east coast time and I'm afraid hell crump out mid day.

Any advice or other hotels to consider? Trips for surviving a run disney weekend when you arent a participant?

Thanks!

I have never been during a race weekend, but from what I've read, you will want to stay within walking distance due to street closures in the mornings. This is unfortunate because you could find better deals a bit further afield, but staying on Harbor will be most convenient. Desert Inn would probably be fine, but I've heard that the pool is less than ideal (indoors, small, smells like chlorine), so if you plan on taking afternoon swim breaks then that's probably not the best bet for you. Switching hotels on Sunday also does not sound too good with your little one. You also would want to walk to the parks Sun morning and I'm not sure how far either the Super 8 or Comfort Inn would be. BUT, if you were OK with walking to the parks in the morning, and if you think your son could snooze in the stroller, then moving over to the Park Vue or Hojo in the afternoon doesn't sound too bad. The rest of your stay would be much nicer. Your son would enjoy the water park at the Hojo and even the pool at Park Vue is vastly better than DI.
I would probably move and save the money.

Good luck!

Can you do the other part of your trip first and then do to DL after the race? If you're concerned about jetlag, why not stay the first night in LA and check into the hotel after your time in Hollywood instead of driving all the way to Anaheim. You might be better off avoiding Sunday in Anaheim altogether if you can and just start there on Monday.

We're flying home from San Diego so no we can't switch. I'm not worried about jet lag for me, and with the road closures I don't want to try to come into Disneyland on Sunday morning. I'd rather be within walking distance, we only have 3 days and I want 3 rope drops.

I actually just found the best western Stovalls in for all 4 nights, so that might be the best bet. Not as convenient as the harbor Blvd hotels but the walk doesn't seem terrible.
