Last Minute Dining Reservations?

Before the pandemic, we almost always lucked out being able to get additional table service reservations the week before or week of our Disney trips. We always have some booked in advance, but as we would tweak our itinerary, we were often able to find last minute availability that wasn't there in the weeks/months before. We always assumed it was that people would have booked more reservations than needed, or like us, making tweaks to their plans and would make changes as the trip got closer.

Has anyone who has been recently had that kind of luck? Or is it pretty much all booked all the time now?

I've definitely had luck with things opening up closer to the date. I got Topolino's that way, the Plaza, and was able to adjust our reservation times closer to the date as well.

We leave in a week and I really wanted Teppan Edo, as our friends raved about it. I couldn't snag it so I signed up for Mousekepros and Mouse Dining alerts and was able to snag it that way.

Still can't manage to snag Oga's, which I know is near impossible. I'm a little let down, not for me but my fiance but I am hoping for a miracle at this point.

I wouldn't bank on this unless you are willing to do quick service instead of sit down. Things are good if you book the minute your ADR window opens. However, with not everything open and dining capacity still limited, it makes ADRs pretty hard to get. You might try for a hotel that's near a park, especially for MK.

We were at WDW in April for 12 days, I tweaked our reservations quite a bit as they expanded the hours of the parks the week before we arrived and our ADR times were all screwed up. We landed everything we wanted, I even managed to grab a CRT and move a BOG reservation around from one day to the next. People are still letting reservations go the day before and we had no real issues.
HS restaurants were probably the most difficult to get and Sci-Fi being the toughest of the bunch. Chef Mickeys and Topolino's breakfast were difficult and rarely came up during our trip, but outside of those, everything else typically came up. All the MK's restaurants were available as well as EPCOT and AK. However, I've pretty aggressive on the app and I checked for opening fairly often throughout the day. The DS restaurants unlike the WDW restaurants are operating at normal capacity and the tables are at normal distances, which is helpful. That the issue with WDW, they have their table still spaced out and they are not seating all the tables available.

We dined at Teppan Edo one afternoon and enjoyed it as well. It popped up quite a bit throughout our trip. Even Oga's popped up a couple of times, so don't give up hope on it either.
