Hey Gang,

I'm heading down to BCV a week from tomorrow. Our family of six is staying for 8 nights and I'm tossing around the idea of adding Disney Dining Plan to our trip.

Just curious... it seems worth it (we have 2 adults and 4 kids), but am I adding it too late? Many folks are compulsive planners (we're not) and I want to get my money's worth out of it.

What do you think? Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks,

LG

Do you already have dining reservations? If not, it might be too late to make the most out of the dining plan. Last minute reservations can be difficult.

I would call to see what is available at the restaurants that you want to go to and make a decision based on what is avaialble. :surfweb: Might not be much. :scared:

As far as adding the DDP this close to your trip, you can add it now. You have to add it through Member Services and it must be added to your reservation before you check in.

I believe the DDP must be added at least 48 hours prior to check-in. Remember that DDP does not include appetizer or gratuity, (and I believe you will get an auto 18% gratuity added to your room bill). But if you can get enough dinner reservations, it may still be worth while.

I agree with the others, the key to whether it makes sense to add it at this point or not, is whether or not you can get an TS ADR for each night of your trip. I suspect it is too late. People have been planing them 180 days in advance. If you can not get an ADR for a TS you would like to eat at, then that credit is wasted, and you will have paid for something you can not use. Having the DDP does not guarantee you ADR's at sit down restaurants.
Good Luck!

Before you book the DDP why not try to reserve one TS per day and see how that goes. When the ask if you are on DDP tell them maybe.
Be flexible with where and when, especially using TS for lunch.
Check the menus (allears.net) to see what lunches are worth it.
It may all work out that way and if it doesn't cancel all the ADRs and don't book DDP.

Hey Gang,

Thanks to all of you who replied to my original question. I called two days before we left and got TS reservations for every night except one... this actually worked out well because one of our ressies was for the Yachtsman Steakhouse (which charges you 2 vouchers each).

We ate at:
Yachtsman Steakhouse (YC)
Spoodles (BW)
Beaches & Cream (BC)
50's Prime Time Diner (HS)
Boma's (AKL)
Teppan Edo (Epcot)
Cape May Cafe (BC)

I even called the same day to change a couple and was able to switch them around... we swapped out Les Chefs de France and San Angel in Epcot because they were later than we wanted to eat.

So... if you are thinking about trying it out, but worried that you don't already have reservations, check it out. You may be pleasantly surprised!

Thanks! :thumbsup2

I think your group size helped you out somewhat as I tried for some ADRs for Sept ( during free dining period) and they had tables for 6 but not for 2.
