Last minute-child ID idea?

We are leaving Friday and I completely forgot to order some kind of a child ID bracelet or tag thing for my kids.
Does anyone have any great homemade ideas?
I'd rather have it as a bracelet/shoe tag or something similar rather than a sticker. Also most of dd/ds shorts don't have pockets so I can't put something inside.

Just go to Wal-Mart and use their Dog tag machine (or a pet store, but they are more $) and put their name, your cell phone number and/or hotel name etc. Buy some rat-tail at Michael's and make it into a necklace and ta da you are done! They have hearts, circles etc., my DD loved hers and wore it everyday. She actually got called by name a few times by CMs with VERY good eyesight and she was in awe

It's funny...we leave Friday and the same thought occurred to me today. I had completely forgot to order anything that ID's my kids. So in a total panic today, I started thinking. I was thinking that I would buy velco strips to make an ID tag for their shoes. And on the inside, I could put a self adhesive tab with all of the info on it. This was the basic idea, haven't had time to find the materials yet. But I do like the tag idea from Wal-Mart.

Or an office supply store will sell tags you can write on. They are little plastic ones.

I was going to tell you about the tags at Wal-Mart but, I'm a little late I just wanted to say that I put them on my kids' shoes and I was so glad I did even though they weren't used

When our children were younger I made them tags with our names and the address we were staying at etc and then laminated them and tied them to their bumbags (I think you would call them a fanny pack) or to part of their clothing, but I think I like the dog tag idea better and I think that maybe my boys would have prefered that, although I did decorate their labels with woody & buzz etc....

We used the dog tag machine last year (they had a heart-shaped one that DD liked!) and I put it on a ball chain. Worked great. And they're very lightweight.

what info does everyone normally put on there? I mean, are you listing home info or where you are while in Florida, blood type etc?

Child's name, mom's cell phone number, dad's cell phone number. That's it.

Two idea's:

Michael's or AC Moore.

Make a bead braclet with your cell phone number on it.

I have the Sizzix die cut machine and using card stock I am going to cut a shape out and laminate it with our cell phone number and attach it to their shoes.

We do the dog tags as well but we got ours done in the xmas shop at DTD. They are shaped like mickey heads. Pluto loved the tags when we saw him at LTT. We did make the chain long enough tuck into their shirts if you feel uncomfortable with their names being exposed. We just put their first name and our cell phone #. Don't forget the area code, we almost did.

Today I went to our new SuperWalMart and they did not have the dog tag machine! So I wandered around the craft section for ideas and here's what I decided to do....

I found button makers for 48 cents. They are the clear plastic kind that you can put pictures or anything inside and they pin on. I typed my dd's name, age, both of our cell #'s and our resort name. I cut out the circle shape and put that inside. They are perfect and I will pin it to the inside of her shorts or shirt or somewhere out of site and tell her to show a CM if she gets lost.
