my wife is not a big rides person, no coasters, doesn't like tight spaces. Are there any rides at disney world where if she wants to abandon the line at the last minute and not ride it where that would be a problem?

All the rides have chicken exits. Just tell the CM at the loading area that she’s not riding, and they’ll direct or escort her out. FYI at ToT, the exit is via a very normal elevator, but the CM might remain in character.

FYI if you’re using a VQ, Genie+LL or ILL$ to ride, she’ll need the same in order to go through the line with you.

I agree with Tower Of Terror, there is an elevator down, not the ride, but most times CM is in character as the way out with not riding. can not think of any other ride that would be a problem

thank you! i was telling her that many of the rides, just waiting in the line there is entertainment or story line etc. and if she were to sit on a bench outside the ride she would be missing that.

I ducked out of Rock'n'Roller Coaster on my last visit just before I was supposed to get on, but I'm now going to brave both it AND Expedition Everest on my upcoming trip! I may live to regret it!

There are rides she will have to walk through the car like what was Splash mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Dino, Test Track as the exit is on the other side of the car if she chooses to wait through the entire line. Mission space you can leave through the normal exit but she can walk through the vehicle as if the doors close........ I would think most she will just avoid from the get go. Mission space has a very nice waiting area if she exits after the preshow but she can also enter by the doors to the left of MS when walking towards the ride.

I’ve heard that Pirates at WDW requires walking back out through the queue. Not sure if that’s true but I remember reading that somewhere.

The best designed chicken exit is GOTG. It's right when the lines split and goes straight to where the ride dumps out, so it's easy to meet up. You might need to come up with a meeting spot for other rides.

The end of the Pirate ride is actually in another building, so walking back out thru the queue might be it

Partly that is true, but she can also use that time to do an attraction she enjoys, shop, snack, etc.

I've gone to WDW with extended family many times, and we often split up for a few minutes here and there. Sometimes the non-rider goes and does something useful. Not that getting stuff should be required of her, but sometimes it is handy if one person opts to order food or takes care of some useful task, like booking the next G+.
We sorta do a combintaion when we split up.

I don't ride ANYTHING that goes in circles, has big drops, or goes backwards (OK, I ride Dumbo, BTMRR, and HM, but only with Bonine). I found I enjoy my Disney trips much more when I walk through the queues with my travel party- otherwise I spend a lot of time sitting by myself, waiting while everyone else has fun. Believe me, no cast member wants you on a ride after which they'll have to shut things down to clean up!! :crazy2:

The Pirates queue really isn’t that interesting. If I wasn’t riding I would just hang in the gift shop where the ride exits. Where is the chicken exit on Rise just for curiosity?

No idea but I wouldn’t be surprised if there were a couple, given the complexity of the ride. I’d guess they have one when they start sorting you into cars, maybe another before you first enter the transport.

Yeah, I am not sure how they handle that once the ride portion starts. There must be a way thoguh because they will never force someone to board a ride vehicle against their will. That would be quite the thing if they did!

Maybe the First Order just keeps you and makes you be a Stormtrooper forever. 🤣

Maybe I’ll go one day and chicken out just to see what is involved if the ride has a low wait time.

But in reality unload and load probably aren’t that far from each other. There’s likely a way for CMs to move wheelchairs between the two just like there is at other attractions.

So Rise is kind of different in that a good part of the experience is before the ride. It's not like a queue with a pre-show, it's more like a series of encounters, all different and highly themed, before you actually sit in the ride vehicle itself. Actually some of that is cooler than the actual ride.

I know of at least one. It’s right after the first pre-show room, where you get on the transport ship outside. When we went last January, my 5 year old niece got freaked out with the “aliens” (her words) 😂. So since I had ridden before and the rest of our group hadn’t, I took her out. They had us wait until everyone loaded onto the ship and the doors closed, then they took us through a side passage and we met everyone at the end where they get off the ride vehicles.
