Last minute changes - 2 bdr to 1 and studio and charging privileges

I don't even know if this is possible. We have a reservation for June 20-25 at SSR for a two bedroom, which I would really like to switch to entirely separate units-- a one bedroom and studio.

My question is, if I am able to get this...I would be staying in the 1 bedroom. Do I have control over whether the people staying in the other room, the studio, have charging privileges? I'd just as well not be responsible for anything that has to do with charges that aren't mine and would like no charges to their room whatsoever. Can I make that decision known to the front desk and be assured that that is the way it will be?

You would have to see if a 1 bedroom and a studio are available at this late date. If you have a lockoff 2 bedroom, they may not allow you to just split it up. Splitting it up will cost you more points (for example, a 2 br at SSR is 36 points, a studio is 13, a 1 bedroom 27 - total 40). If you split up the reservation, there's no guarantee the studio will be next to the 1 bedroom.

You don't have to allow your other guests to have charging priviledges. You can tell the front desk which keys can have it. You can make it just your key.

Your goal would consist of cancelling what you have and rebooking what you want. They will not just split it up. If there's a wait list, you will be out of luck. If you do get the separate rooms, you have a couple of options. Let them check in to their unit and use a credit card of their own or you could check in and ask for noncharging cards. Remember though that you are ultimately responsible for your guests and there's no way to totally eliminate that risk.

My suggestion would be just to see if there is a 2 bedroom Lock off available and then when you check in just make sure thier cards don't have any charging privledges, this is very common. This way you will save a few points and it will gaurantee they will be next to you.

If you get a lockoff, there's nothing that says you have to open the connecting door. If you keep the door shut, it's a studio and a 1 bedroom to everyone but the front desk.

With this option, you can lock the connecting doors between the 1 bedroom side and the studio side if you wish - it's just a deadbolt type lock. (There are actually two doors between the units in a lock off situation. Each side can lock one of the doors. Both must be unlocked to move between units ).

Keep in mind that all the resort ID keys for the lock off unit will open both the 1 bedroom side and the studio side doors to the outside.

As already mentioned, you control which keys have charging priviledges. You can choose some, all or none.
