Has anyone ever booked a cruise within the last few days of the cruise date? My husband and I unexpectedly have airfare to Orlando in January. The dates just happen to coincide with a 3 day Wonder cruise so we are considering cruising. BTW, this is for our 15th wedding anniversary. Does Disney cut the rates drastically at the last minute in order to fill the ship? We just can't decide whether to just hang around Orlando and do all those things we never seem to do when the kids are with us or cruise alone. I thought that if Disney gives a big discount for last minute cruising then there would be no question on what we would do!

Thanks,
Lori

Normally there is actually a rise in the prices as you get closer to the date. BUT Dreams Unlimited had notified me of some pretty big drops in prices for a few January sailings -- not sure exactly which ones anymore. Contact Dreams Unlimited and ask for a price for the dates you are looking for.
Good Luck -- and Happy Holidays!
:D

Last spring my husband and I went on the 3 day with only 3 days notice!! Had to have passports FEDEXed Etc. Nope - no price break. Paid about $1700 for a Cat 8 as I recall

You can get an idea of pricing by going to travelocity, orbitz or expedia. I use all three sites for research only!!

I am going on a 3 day Wonder cruise Jan. 9th. If you are willing to stay in a cat 11 they have some awesome rates right now. We booked our cruise for around $750 for 2 adults. That is without transfers or insurance.

Good luck,
Donna

You might want to try someone like expedia.com who may be trying to get rid of their blocks of rooms as the dates get closer.
Good luck!

jody and Donna are right. There are some great rates for Cat 11 staterooms for 3-night sailings in January (9,16 and 30). If it is really close to sailing, you just pick up your docs at the Port.

Happy Anniversary!
Cathy

Thanks for the info everyone! Unfortunately, our anniversary is 1/23 which has the highest rates for the month. Does anyone know why this is?

Thanks,
Lori

Supply and demand. The MLK holiday falls that week, so more folks are interested in sailing that week since they'd only need to take 4 vacation days instead of 5.

yep, what Dave said. :)
Blackouts for discounts or higher rates can be expected any time there is a holiday of any kind.
