Last minute booking advice

Just found out that I will be receiving a bonus week of vacation in August....right before DD starts school. Call MS today for availability in a studio at any resort. OKW, SSR and AKV (both Jambo and Kidani) are available. We will be staying 5 nights. It is just myself and DD, 7.....DH goes on a golf trip every year with the guys and last year I took DD to Disney last minute as a girls trip and we had the time of our lives! Would love to repeat it.

Where would you stay? We've stayed at both OKW and SSR, but only a pre cruise night at AKV, so we really didn't get a feel for the resort. We are not going to get a hopper this time, only same day ticket to save some $. Also not doing any dining plan. We had the Dxdp for 10 days in March and again this time saving some $.

Any advice or insight? I'll take it all, and with much thanks!

I say AKV since you haven't really stayed there.

I'd pick AKV Jambo. Dd5 loves the kids activities and dd7 likes the counter service type food. Also we go every year in august and it is hot and can be rain so I really like being able to walk indoors to dining, shopping activities etc. This way I don't worry about the weather. Have lots of fun!

I would also say AKV.

As to Kidani or Jambo, depend what you prefer. For me, I see Jambo House as the "City", a busy place somewhere in Africa and Kidani is a small remote village somewhere in the Savannah. On our last stay, we did a "Non Park stay" so Kidani Village was perfect to relax. And still, you can get anywhere at WDW by just hopping on a bus or take the elevator down to your car.

We're OKW people, but we stayed at Kidani Savannah View in February and loved it! I can understand why people prefer the Jambo location for proximity to the CS food. We found transportation to be as good as any other resort, better than some. Considering the age of your daughter, I'd give AK a try, but only if you can get the Savannah View. Have a fun trip!

I woud say AKV also - but would opt for Kidani. Since it is just you and your DD, I am sure she would love the pool area at Kidani - my DS was 6 on our last trip and had a whale of a time there (I know you can use Kidani pool if you are staying at Jambo but I just know that we wouldn't bother to do this).

Yes, if you stay at Jambo, you have closer proximity to CS options but actually it is not that bad of a walk and the buses stop there after picking up at Kidani anyway, if you don't feel like walking.

But, for the feel of the resort and the pool area, I would choose Kidani

Since you aren't planning on much park time, I'd agree that AKV is the way to go. There is so much to do there that it is like a destination resort.

Wow, it is unanimous! I think we'll give AKV a try. I was somewhat worried about the remote location, but we are not going commando style this time and I think it would force us to relax a bit more.

Can I just say that I love the DIS boards?
