Sorry if this is sort of a duplicate - I typed up this post a minute ago and it keeps telling me it's a duplicate but I don't see it out there so I will try one more time...

Anyways, we are leaving in a little over a week with our 8 month old son. We are going with my folks and staying in a 2BR at BWV. It is the first time our son will be flying as well as staying overnight outside of our home. We are very excited but a little nervous as well! I have tried to do my homework and have read about how to give a bottle to the baby on takeoff and landing, and we have tried to fine-tune our to-pack list without taking the entire house (okay, well close). Just wondering if you can give me any last minute advice in travelling and visiting WDW with our little guy!

Thanks!

My DD first trip was when she was 10 mos old...it was wonderful. We did the bottle thing for takeoff and landing too. The way down she was great, the way home she cried alot while we were landing. But there's not really much you can do. Thankfully flights to/from MCO have lots of kids so parents are usually sympathetic. While we were in WDW it was great. We stayed at WL and requested a pak-n-play. We rented a car so I went to the food store to buy diapers, wipes, formula and whatever babyfood we needed. In the BWV you'll have a fridge so it makes it easier to keep food/milk. I found it much easier to buy when we got there than to pack it all. If you need anything while you're in the parks, each one has a baby station stocked with all kinds of things. The only thing I would say to definitely pack from home is anything he is attached to (a blanket, toy etc) anything else you can get down there.
Have a wonderful trip!! :goodvibes

Just enjoy your trip and take cues from your baby. If he needs a break then take one. Go back to the room, order in and let him have some down time or a nap in bed as opposed to the carriage. If you just keep him happy and take a relaxed approach to the trip you will have a great time! Enjoy! :earsgirl:

hi!
I had the worries as you last month when we took our then 5-month old daughter to WDW. I was a nervous wreck about the flight but followed the drinking bottle method on take-off and landing and she did FABULOUS! In fact, on landing coming home, she was sound asleep and we kept the pacifier in her mouth and she did great! Phew! :)

Since you are going to be in a 2BR at the BWV (we were in the same place in a 1BR) I would suggest packing EXTREMELY light and plannign on doing laundry while you're there. It's funny because we joke around that we packed our lightest on this trip than any other trip in the past (when it was just the two of us). The villas are SO nicely equiped, roomy and comfy! We spent all of our afternoons in our villa. It was great...I took long jacuzzi tubs while my daughter slept peacefully in the pack n play the unit provides. DH and I also spent much quality time watching movies in teh living room while she took her nap. It was the best trip we've ever had!

Another suggestion I have is taking total advantage of the awesome Baby Care Centers in each park. I cannot say enough wonderful things about them. Kudos to Disney!

If you're interested, I have a trip report (including photos) with many details about our day-to-day Disney-ing with an infant. See: http://www.kings.edu/mfpriebe/Amelia/6months/disney01SUN.htm

We just returned a few weeks ago, and it was our first trip with our DS 9mths old, and let me tell you it was fabulous. Before he was born I thought I would never take a baby to WDW, but I am so glad I did, it was the best trip ever. He loved every character he saw, and wanted to touch and hug them all. So my advice is to make sure you have a digital camera (greatest invention ever), because right now we have 705 of the most precious pictures. :earsboy:

Thanks for the advice! I really enjoyed reading your trip report Melody - lots of ideas and I enjoyed reading about your food experiences!

I will be definitely taking the camera...in fact I am off to buy another digital memory card today. Thanks for reminding me. 705 pictures - you're like us!!! :earboy2:
