We are on the DxDDP for 14 nights we have 2 meals a day booked 1 always signature, we will probably have a beer/cocktail OR a bottle of house wine with each meal. If we payed the normal 18-20 % tip do you think $500 is enough set aside, or will we need more ?

Thanks Sarah x

How many are dining, as that will affect the total bill and thus the size of the tip required?

You can easily spend anywhere between probably $80 to $200 on food and drinks depending where you eat, so looking at a tip of roughly $16 to $40 per meal. Have you looked at menus to work out costs of say 1 meal at a signature and 1 meal elsewhere to give you an idea? Alcohol is expensive so will bump the bill up a bit. Not sure if your 2 meals are both TS as we have never had the DDP.

All meals are table service with a starter main and dessert, I did use an online calculator that got it at around the $500 mark and I assumed that was based on the most expensive items and I'm sure we will not always get them. x

Does the $500 include your alcohol?

Our bill at YS including a glass of wine each is usually in the region of $150 but thats generally only 2 courses. On that basis you tip at signatures will $30-$40 which will be all your budget before you add in your 1TS meals.

no it wasn't including alcohol as we wont always drink.

I think a bit more - i'd estimate $50-60 daily tips for food (signature and 1 TS for 2 people) plus tips on alcohol - tip will be $5 if you have a couple of cocktails. I don't order bottles of wine but I'd guess $30-40 a bottle at the cheaper end so tip $6-$8 extra tip.

Obviously if you don't order starters/share desserts etc it will reduce tips.

We really enjoyed dxddp but the tips do add up.

We have done DxDDP twice now - 3 adults. In 2015 we spent around $560 on tips, if that helps?

A bottle of wine is very expensive in Disney restaurants. The cheapest we saw was about 35 dollars and that wasn't in a signature restaurant. (Apart from one night - Tutto Italia!) we had a glass of wine or a cocktail to try and keep our tips down. The effects of the poor exchange rate seemed most evident when paying for alcohol and tips.

We have done DX several times and 500$ would work for us. We do tend to use Private dining a couple of times and that includes tips. We did sometimes have a counter service meal at lunch time.

On DxDDP we tended to not drink much with the meal due to the service charge. We use the lounges where its usually more acceptable to leave $1 per drink rather than 20%, so on wine or cocktails it's much cheaper
