We're checking out of POR on 11/28, but we're staying an extra night off-site that day. My question:

1. Do we have to surrender the parking permit when we check out?

2. If we intend to stay at the parks after check out, do we have to pay parking for the rest of the day?

3. Could we (hypothetically speaking...) park the car at say MK parking lot, then using Disney transportation, go park hopping, check out of POR later (with car still at MK parking lot), then spend the rest of the day park hopping, with the car parked at MK all day long?

4. And lastly, since we'll have checked out by 11:00 or 12:00 at the latest, will we be allowed to like hang out in the lobby of the resorts to just rest during the afternoon? Not going to use the pools or anything... just to sit down for a minute or two.

Note: I don't mind paying parking, so please don't flame me on this... I'm asking out of curiosity and because I'm slightly :p wacko on the little details.

Thanks guys.... DISers RULE! BAM!:teeth:

You don't have to surrender your parking pass when you check out of a WDW resort. If you're checking out 11/28, your parking pass will be valid through that day. Your checkout day is noted on the pass which you are asked to have displayed in your car window.

We do that very thing quite often. Our October school break family trips often run Friday night to week later Sunday.

We usually leave as early Friday as we feel comfortable yanking the kids from school (usually 1:30 as they only have weightlifting the last block). Then drive 10 hours to Ocala, then up bright and early Saturday morning to whichever All-Stars we have booked.

We tour the parks for 8 glorious days!!!

We check out of All-Stars on Saturday morning early, load the stuff in the truck and leave it in the All-Stars parking lot, we use WDW transport all day. We then hop in the car and make the short 90 minute drive to Ocala Super 8 and crash.

We then get up on Sunday morning about 9ish, have a good IHOP breakfast and then head home.

The times we have arrived at WDW late at night on Friday, we get a backside room somewhere overlooking the parking lot or some nondescript trees. We really like courtyard views. We have always gotten a courtyard view arriving at 6am on Saturday morning.

We shorten our drive and save money too.

The one time we stayed on WDW property the last night, we took too long to leave. We went and had a big character breakfast at Chef Mickey's, wandered around Wilderness Lodge, and one of our group HAD to stop at the Marketplace for one quick thing. We didn't start heading north until 2pm which got us home after midnite!! (We had to be at work the next day)

So now we stay as late as we wish on Saturday (sometimes till PI closes), then have a reasonable drive to a bed.

It is a lot easier to head home from a plain ol Super 8 in Ocala, then it is to leave WDW property. We have always reached home on Sunday night by a very reasonable 6pm that way.

We also save money.
