Last Day at Resort

Not sure if this is right place to post this - couldn't decide on Resort or Theme Park...........

We are going 6/22 - 6/28. We arrive at 10:00 am on the 22nd and our plane doesn't leave until 7:30 pm on the 28th. We were planning on getting a 5 day PH - using 1 day for the arrival day, 3 in the middle and 1 for departaure day - we have 1 day at US and 1 down day in the middle of our stay.

Now my question is - I planned on using my 5th day at the parks on my last day. I figured we could check out fairly early that day - and go back to probably MK (for my 4 yo grandson) - cuz we could stay/play until around 4:00ish. We have a towncar picking us up for the airport at 5:00.

Now I'm wondering can I do this? I just thought about it - and since I plan on checking out earlier in the morning - will we have a problem with either transportation or entering the park since we would be officially "checked out"???

I originally assumed it would be fine - but now I'm not sure. Any comments?

You will have no problems with that. Your free, resort transportation is good till 11:59:59 PM of the day you check-out of your resort -- just for peace-of-mind, let your hotel front desk know what your plans are for the day you check-out.

I'm basing this on the assumption that you're staying at an official "Disney" resort......as opposed to "off-property" or Downtown Disney.

Plus, you don't need to be a resort guest to enter a park. All you need is a ticket.

sorry - I didn't mention that. Yes - we are staying at ASMo. I know I didn't need to stay on-site to get into the parks - but was wondering about still using the transportation....I thought we might still need our room key as "proof" to use the buses. It's been almost 10 years since we've been there and didn't know if that was still the case.

My plan was to check out, store our luggage and finish playing until we absolutely had to leave.

I was hoping this was the answer - because we wanted to end our stay the way we started it - at MK

We do this frequently. The hard part is remembering to leave the park on that last day! We leave our luggage at the hotel and either go to a park for the whole day, or resort-hop part of the time at the monorail hotels and do some last minute shopping.

We almost missed our limo pickup in Dec. 2002 because we were enjoying CSR so much!

Grammagail,

Your room key is a plastic card that you get to keep after checking out - it will have your party's name on it (whoever's name the room is under), and the dates of your stay, including the last day. This will be your proof, if asked.

These are the answers I was hoping for. Thought I had thought it thru - but needed some "expert" opinion.

I agree - we'll have to watch the time - which might be kinda hard to do

Now - if we're suppose to be back and ready to leave at 5:00 (towncar picking us up at 5:00) - could we feasibly stay at MK until around 4:00 - and still depend on disney transportation to get us back to ASMo in time? I don't want to cut it too close - but don't want to miss out and be standing around waiting at the resort either?

I figured if our luggage was already on hold, and we were checked out - theoretically - we would be pretty ready to go once we get back to the resort (?).

Even if we're wiped out (which we'll probably be) - figured once we get on plane - we'll just sleep until we're back in Michigan

I would think 4 at the latest. Maybe you could leave the MK around 3:30 pm and head back. That way you could get a drink, sit and relax until the car picks you up. Just a thought. Our flight in January was at 6:30 pm with the car picking us up at 5 pm. We had a big lunch and relaxed in the lobby until the car came. It was a little hard not having a "home" to go back to from the park that day with little kids, but that was just going to have to do. It worked out ok. The one thing was that while we were at the parks that day I found myself constantly checking to see what time it was. I had not done that all week! I was worried that the day would get away from us and we would miss our ride/flight. It was kindof a stressful way to end our trip and for the next trip we are heading home earlier to avoid this. I'm trying to figure out our last day as well. We're considering a one day car rental on our last day. (planning on a towncar from the airport to WDW) That way I will know that our luggage is where it needs to be & we can leave when we need to.

Am I being paranoid?!? (I have control/trust issues. )

For those of you who have stored your luggage & gone back to the hotel to meet the towncar, did it work out okay? Did you just leave your luggage with the front desk? Any advice?

Has anyone done a one day rental? Is it worth it?

Hey! grammagail I was just wondering if you were flying Airtran out of Flint? Those are almost my exact same flight times, and days. Just curious.

Was seriously considering going out of Flint - but got a good deal out of Metro on Spirit's website - $170.50/rt
