Last Day at my job of 10 years!

So, I will be leaving here in 2.5 hours. After 10 years and my boss being like a father to me, he isn't coming in today.

I know that he is really hurt I am leaving but it is for WAYYYYY more $, better opportunities and about 20 minutes from my house ( I drive 90 miles each day to come here) .

I just don't understand. Anyone else have a similar story..come on, make me feel better

He is probably worried he will get emotional if you guys are that close. Try not to be hurt by it too much.
I worked for a doctor for 2 years ages ago. He always took it personally when people left, including me, although I left for nearly the exact same reasons you are. I liked working for HIM very much, but the commute was terrible and I had a better chance with the new job. I felt bad, but you have to do what you have to do!
