I was at the second to last class tonight at 9:00. The animator told us she was choosing the last 2 characters for the night. For our class she chose Grumpy. Does anyone know who she chose for the last class? She had already had them draw Mickey at a class before ours.

I am sad to see this attraction close. The Times Guide you get at the park said the hours for the classes today, but for Monday through Saturday it said "permanently closed".

Pooh was the last character drawn as reported by another DISer.

I just noticed that thread. Thank you for the quick reply! Wish I was in the last class since I love Pooh!

permanently closed?! where have I been? was really looking forward to going there on my September trip:sad:

I have a theory that it will come back somewhere else. It might take a year or so as they work out the new designs for this park. But all they need is a moderate sized room and a queue area. The Whole Animation area of the park is huge and only partially utilized. I can see why new themed areas might gobble this area up. But I think this wonderful little experience will turn up again in the not-to-distant future.

friends of mine were there yesterday and they drew Maleficent in dragon form, maybe around 2pm. So jealous. The animator said this was the only time he taught the class that character and thinks no other animator had ever done it

Yes. Pooh was the last character drawn. My wife and I were in the last class on Saturday. Very sad to see this go. I am hoping at some point perhaps they move it to another location instead of getting rid of it all together. I miss the old walking tour they use to have in that entire building. So much fun to see the animators working and seeing the entire process when I was younger.

I remember Robin Williams was the voice for the character that took you through the entire animation process. Lots of fun. Will miss this experience.

I can't imagine they'd get rid of it. It can't cost that much to run, and people love it. They even hype it up on the DME video.

We got one more in as well too. My CM friend had never been! We waited from 4:45 and got the 6pm class but the line got MUCH bigger after. I was seeing a lot more Pixar characters coming out, which perhaps made me speculate that they might retheme the building to Pixar and we can keep the Academy in the future (more hoping than anything.) Anyway when we got to the class, our choices were Dale, Jimminy and something else, maybe Pooh or something. We all votes Jimminy. Had Ryan as an instructor. Such a chill dude. Had a great time, it will definitely be missed. Here's hoping it's not the end, but knowing how Disney works, must be prepared in case it is. (If it does indeed join the likes of Bing Bong, Comedy Warehouse, Adv Club and so on....)

I was thinking the same thing. The Animation class is so popular, that you would think that they are just going to move it, but hasn't said anything yet. I mean, you can still go to an Animation class at DisneyQuest, but that won't be open much longer either. If Disney was smart they would reopen it someplace down Hollywood Blvd (possibly closer towards GMR), which I think they should just leave that Blvd and Sunset Blvd alone in there revamping to still celebrate the classic Hollywood era IMHO, but that is for another thread.

I loved it when they had Robin Williams. My family still always says.... pick up the baby and run.
