salmoneous said:Note that the days of Vegas being a cheap destination are numbered. While you can still sometimes get a deal in the off seasons, it's much, much harder than it has been in the past.
Tina said:Also keep in mind that the hotels usually post promotional rates on their websites only a few months in advance at a time. You probably won't see reduces rates yet during the summer months. You can always book a room now and pay the one night deposit. Then you can cancel/rebook later when the rates drop. We always do the same with car rentals too. We'll book now, then check the rates again a day or 2 before we leave. We usually end up getting our intermediate rental for about $14 per day.
treloarf said:I also agree with posters saying that Vegas is not what it used to be - my DH & I could go on a 4 day/3night trip - Fri - Mon & not pay too much for the Flamingo - meals were reasonable - drinks mostly free while gambling. Over the past year or 2, it seems especially since they opened the Wynn - it's outrageous! My husband was there 2 weeks ago on business & paid $7 for a beer at Mandalay Bay. The last time we were there, 3 or 4 summers ago, paid $90/night at the Palms - NOW - $350/night on the weekend.
I love VEGAS & am so bummed that it got expensive - since we don't gamble alot - it was a great inexpensive getaway. NO MORE!
