We are looking for a nice place to stay, next to everything. Not too much cash. I looked at Imperial Palace. Seems ok?

Well, we stayed at the IP a few years ago, and didn't care for it. I mostly remember it as a dark depressing place. One of the problems is that it started small and grew big over the years. So it's really confusing. We were often lost, and by the time we started to figure the place out our trip was over.

But at least the IP has a great location, and the rooms were clean. So I felt like I got my money's worth anyway. Like you said, it's not much money. But it isn't much of a hotel either.

Oh, and avoid the buffet. We took a look at the food they were serving, and quickly got the heck out of there.

Try Bally's, great location, rooms are reasonable and they are very large. I thought it was nice this past summer when we stayed there.
This summer we are staying at the Flamingo.

Have fun

I hope to get there someday.

We've stayed at the IP twice and would stay again. It's nothing great but for as much as we are in the room or casino it didn't matter. It was clean and that was all I cared about. You can't beat the location which is why we chose it.

This is what I would have said too. The location is why we keep staying there. It has always been clean too.:thumbsup2

FMIL stayed at Paris and really liked it. They were upgraded to a suite-type room (but not a suite suite, if you catch my drift.)

I know someone who always stays at the Flamingo. She says although the rooms are big, they aren't special, but they are cheap, and you are right in the middle of all the action. They also have one of the highest rated pools in all of Vegas, FYI.

I always stay at the MGM Grand. It's at the South-end of the Strip, but they have the Monorail (and it's not too expensive if you get a pass) so it's easier to get from that end to the other (and to the middle). The rooms are reasonably priced, IMO, and are BIG and very modern. I wouldn't stay anywear else.

Have fun in Vegas!

Oh, I also forgot, while waiting to check in DH sat at a slot machine and won $1,000. Maybe that's why we like the IP!

We did the Riveria on the cheap and it was not bad at all. We were never in the room but to sleep for a few hours at a time.

I would never stay at the IP. It's a gross hotel for Las Vegas. For many years it was owned by a man who loved Nazi memorabilia, etc. (He's no longer living.) He even threw parties in honor of Hitler's birthday at the IP. I grew up in Las Vegas and the IP did not have a good reputation.

We stayed at IP several years ago and vowed we would never stay there again. It was very dirty and rundown, and even the non-smoking rooms smelled of smoke.

We're going to LV in a couple of days to celebrate our 7th Wedding Anniversary and we're staying at the Monte Carlo for only $69 per night. You can't beat that! I can't imagine that IP would be much cheaper. Plus the Monte Carlo is much newer, very clean, nice rooms & near other nice casinos.

Hope you enjoy your trip no matter where you stay!

Sasha how did you find it for $69, the web is so much higher than that.

I just went on their website and there it was. However we're going on a Monday & Tuesday because it's the only days DH is off of work, so I'm sure that contributed to the low price. Plus we're AAA members, but I don't remember if we got that discount or not. Check out their website and/or call to see if they're having any specials. Or you may want to try hotels.com. I know that Monte Carlo & MGM are known to have very reasonable room rates for such nice hotels.

Good luck in finding a nice hotel. Wow - 20 years! Congratulations!!!

That's a great quote!! I agree, it's a great hotel!:thumbsup2

Monte Carlo usually has great rates and the location is the best...But there is construction all around it and I think their pool has been ripped out if that's a factor. Also the room walls are very thin although they give you a background noise machine that helps, but we had three young girls sharing a room next to us last time and I heard way too much about thong underwear and faking orgasams!:scared1:

I want to try Paris and he Venetian but these aren't too cheap.

I've heard great things about the Golden Nuggest improvements if you want to stay downtown and of course there's always the Hooter's casino if you really want to give your hubby that extra treat.;)

I have been to Vegas many times, most recently in early March. The Imperial Palace does not appeal to me at all. You should go to the websites of the Flamingo, Ballys, Harrah's, Treasure Island and Monte Carlo to register for e-mail promotions. If you can travel midweek, there can be many great offers available. The Flamingo is actually in the perfect location center strip and their pool is great. Considered one of the best pools in Las Vegas. I've seen rates at low as $60 at Flamingo.

Personally, I wouldn't stay at the Imperial Palace. Just my two cents, of course.

We did Vegas last summer as part of our Annv trip and were able to get the rate of $99 at the Flamingo which is in the center of all the action. Were very pleased with the rooms, service, dining and shopping mall. In the center of the Vegas craziness Flamingo has a lovely peaceful scantuary in court yard you can escape too and feed the birds, fish, etc. The beautiful pools looked most inviting. On the corner of hotel we enjoyed lunch at Jimmy Buffett's. :goodvibes
