Las Vegas

We're staying at the Flamingo in June, for the third time. Can't beat the price, location and pool!

Bally's room was nice and big, but to get to the pool was a hike!

Treasure Island's room was nice, too, didn't do the pool that trip...it was our first time there...we wanted to see everything in five days...couldn't do it, so we had to go back several more times!

Never stayed at Imperial Palace, but it doesn't look like a place I would want to stay.

Good luck and have a great time! :)

Sherri...when are you going? We'll be there from the 16th until the 21st.

We usually stay at Harrah's. We enjoy the laid-back atmosphere and the staff is always very friendly. It's in a great location, plus...they comp us the rooms!!! We are going to try the Flamingo next month. The location is even a bit better than Harrah's, and the pool area is beautiful!!!
Some of my friends from work are going at the end of May and are staying in a Penthouse Suite at the Mirage...it's 1600 sq ft and they are only paying $369/per night!!!! Which sounds like a lot compared to $60 bucks but not when you compare it to the Poly or GF!

We have stayed at the Mandalay Bay. The pool is gorgeous with its lazy river and wave pool. The rooms we beautiful and we had a great view of The Luxor at night.

We start our vacation in California June 25th and end in Las Vegas at the Flamingo July 7th-10th.
Make sure you save us some money (lol). We don't want to hear we didn't win because you cleaned them out (lol).

Micol - I just checked www.montecarlo.com and it said rates as low as $69.95 in April & May and as low as $89.95 in June. Like I said, we're only staying on a Monday night, but we got a $69 rate from them directly.

We are going to vegas next month and we discovered that the Tropicana has very reasonable rates and pretty decent reviews. In the past, I have stayed at the Mirage (very nice but expensive) and Circus Circus (very cheap and crappy).

Wherever you decide to stay, make sure you look at a map of vegas and make sure you are in a good location on the "strip". The middle area of the strip is great, but sometimes a bit pricey. The North or South (or is it East/West) ends of the Strip are cheaper and can be okay. We picked the tropicana because it is on the South end of the strip but next to lots of fun places (Excalibur, Luxor, etc.). You don't probably want to end up off in the middle of nowhere off the strip!

I'm actually pricing a trip to Vegas right now These are the best rates (for nice places) I've found and they're offered on and off through out the summer:

-Sam's Town probably the farthest from the strip, but it's a nice hotel, has a shuttle to the strip $39

-Orleans a little ways off the strip has great reviews $49

- Excaliber just got an email from them and they've got rooms $56

Have fun

I hope to get there someday.

Me too. Here is the site I read longily...they do not speak highly of the IP.

Go the the websites of the hotels you are interested in and sign up. They will email "specials". Keep in mind if you make a reservation through the hotel you can always cancel (within so many days of arrival) and book a cheaper rate if you find one before you leave.

Everyone has great advice on hotels but it really depends on what you are looking for in a hotel. Cheap room, nice pool, location, etc. I know I pick a cheap room but I also place a $$ value on being able to find my way out of the hotel (Imperial Palace - it really is THAT confusing), donwtown hotels (never want to spend more than a day there), great pool (Flamingo is great for the price), etc.

Good luck. I wish I was going soon.

I have read many BAD reviews of the Monte Carlo, due to the construction noise. We found great rates there but passed it up.

I have stayed at the Imperial Palace, a couple of years ago. It was literally just a place to crash. No real perks. But if the price was right, I might consider it again

I agree about the Flamingo-----We love it there, and definately a great location. Some of there rooms are redone.

We have recieved great email deals from the Luxor, and New York, New York. Definately sign up for the Emails.

Frankly I want to go to Vegas in Dec. and the only way I am dragging DH down there is if we have a cheap room rate.:lmao:

Mid strip is the best as far as I am concerned.
I have stayed at both ends and mid strip is by far the best.

I agree with signing up on each hotels web site.It helps to play in their casinos too, then they send you offers ;)

We've never spent any time at any of the pools.... WE go to see the sights and gamble :goodvibes But if the pool is important to you, then by all means check that out.
Right next door to Flamingo is a small casino that has great rooms for great prices but no pool. I have stayed there for cheap (Barbary Coast).

Have a great time. I love Vegas.

Thanks for all the great tips, we have to use a weekend and its the two of us sneaking off for a long weekend kidless trip for our 20th.

Has anyone who visited Vegas taken the Flight from Vegas to Tour the Grand Canyon. They land at Grand Canyon Airport and then you have a bus tour of the Grand Canyon. Sounds pretty good.

Just came back from a trip to Vegas. A big thumbs down on the Excalibur. Never again. The rooms were clean, but the beds were horribly uncomfortable. The hallways and rooms were dimly lit, the casino was the smoky (compared to other casinos), the elevators and elevator hallways were dirty, the place was worn out and dated, the food in the buffet and the cafe were tasteless and bland, and in general, the clientel was on the seedy side. We spent as much time as we could outside of the Excalibur. Center strip is definitely more desireable. For the money we spent on cabs taking us to the center of the strip, we should have just stayed in one of the hotels there.

Unless I can get better rates, I am looking at staying at Bill's Gambling Hall (formerly Barbary Coast). Expedia has it at around 50.00 per night (2 weeks before Christmas). It is a small hotel.
Looks about perfect for a first timer that has no plans to stick around the place.:thumbsup2

Now we have to get a babysitter and a good flight rate first.:rolleyes1

I was just looking at staying there too. Problem is we're going in June, so the No Pool thing was a downside. If I were going in the winter, I would try it. Have fun.

This is my favorite place to stay when we don't care about having a pool. It is a GREAT location. If you ask for a room facing the street, toward the front you can see the Bellagio fountains. BUT it is VERY noisy with traffic at all hours of the day.

There is an exit right by the elevators so you don't even have to walk through the casino. Located right on the corner for easy access to many other casinos. Great value if you don't need a pool.

Stayed at the Flamingo in December, and I really enjoyed it. The rooms were clean, the casino was not too smoky, they had some neat dining choices, too. The location can't be beat.

I stayed at the Monte Carlo about 5 years ago, and the rooms were clean and nice. I wasn't impressed with the dining, though, and I would not stay there again until the construction was all done.
