Yes, unless you're in somewhere that is specifically non-smoking, expect to be exposed to smoke everywhere. I smoke and even I find that it's a little unbearable at times so that's one Vegas tradition that hasn't gone away.

I actually didn't attend a conference in Vegas prepandemic because I couldn't figure out how I was going to handle the smoke situation.

Considering how verboten smoking is elsewhere around the country, you'd think Vegas and Atlantic City would do a little more to help out the non-smokers. @Miffy I can only assume you are allergic or react negatively to smoke and can understand the trepidation over attending a conference there. It is hard to escape the smoke, but I think there might be one or two hotels on the strip that are smoke free, I'm honestly not sure. Aside from literally running through the lobby/casino to avoid the smoke, I really wouldn't know how to avoid it. The convention centre itself is smoke-free.

Just recently enjoyed an excellent stay at Park MGM - a redo of the old Monte Carlo. Great pool areas and very nice staff. Centrally located on the Strip.

Came here to give my thoughts on Park MGM as well! Stayed here in February and had mixed-to-positive thoughts. One of my favorite bands was doing a residency at the Dolby theatre attached to the hotel and everyone else I knew traveling would be staying here, so didn't research other hotels/can't speak on price comparison.

Loved that it featured a non-smoking casino and it exceeded my expectations in cleanliness but it was my first time in Vegas and felt like I "missed out" on staying at hotel with more extravagant theming and better dining options. Majority of the hotel felt like it closed very early in the evening and not having 24-hour room service or a 24-hour fast food court felt like a miss, especially since Eataly was closed by the time the concert ended, although I suspect this might have been a seasonal thing. With that being said, I also really liked the location -- felt very "central" and loved that it was neighbors with NY NY and practically across the street from MGM Grand.

You'd think, but I guess it's never happened. It's part of the gambling/drinking/live-it-up scene in Vegas.

I'm allergic, yes. I also can't bear to be around heavy perfume, but luckily for me I don't like the opera--a hotbed of intense perfume.

I've never encountered intense perfume aromas when I attend operas at the Met, Boston or in Europe. Or maybe my nasal receptors are so blown from smoking that I don't notice, LOL.

Yes, this is still the case in Vegas. Not the place for those sensitive to smoke.

Vegas has yet to return fully to its pre Covid 24/7 nature. It’s. It just Park MGM. Most hotels don’t really have late night options for food anymore.

This is why we will need to do some research on food options and pick out places to eat in advance of our trip. We are vegetarian so most buffets and places our friends and relatives suggest for dining will likely not be the same value to us if we aren’t eating any of the meat or seafood.

Yeah. If you're a vegetarian, this is not the buffet for you. In fact, most of em aren't. The Palms has a complete section that is nothing but Vegan. And there are some vegetarian options on other stations too. And it's one of the more affordable buffets in Vegas. That said, even there, you might just prefer a Vegan place. At the prices some of these buffets charge, they don't make much sense if you're just going Vegan.

It is slowly starting to change. There are a couple of casinos that are completely non smoking now and 5-6 hotels too. In every one of those I've been in, it has been rigidly enforced. In casinos with non smoking sections, that otherwise allow it, the enforcement is more hit and miss, however. And when you're outside, well smokers will light up. I should further say that some of the more modern casinos are better at handling it than the older ones. But nothing will handle it if someone sits down next to you and starts smoking.

We love Vegas. We go several times a year (although I refuse to go between now and mid-Feb). Our home base these last few trips has been Resorts World. It's a little more expensive, but absolutely amazing. We've also enjoyed staying at Paris and Harrahs.

We are going to LV in Nov/Dec to see U2 at the Sphere (reviews are phenomenal!) . I'd love to stay at the Venetian since it is connected but holy moly...way out of my price range. For now I've settled on The Mirage since we will also see Love while we are there.

I was at a work conference in May and stayed at the Wynn. The Wynn/Palazzo/Venetian combo is so beautiful and extravagant. I can't wait to go see them again, and maybe take a gondola ride.

We also tend to not eat much in one sitting, so buffets weren't really a good value for us even before we stopped eating meat. Our family who have been to Vegas are not helpful in that regard for restaurant recommendations. Our past Disney trips with them were always challenging, because they wanted to do the deluxe dining plan since they enjoy the buffets, appetizers, etc. My kids are light eaters too, so they would always complain... "What do you mean reservations for dinner? Didn't we just eat like an hour ago?"

Vdara and Park MGM and Waldorf are smoke free, many hotels have gone to this. Aria and Cosmo are smoke free in rooms, unless you get a special one. (And Cosmo has dole whips with alcohol.) I think Mandalay lets you pick between a smoking and non-smoking room. I go to Vegas a lot for family and haven't stayed in a smoking hotel room since long before Covid. You can see it on the Hotwire blind, I think. Heck, I did a couple nights at Excalibur for my kid, DO NOT RECOMMEND, and even it was non-smoking in the hotel rooms.

The technology is much, much better at pulling it out now in the casinos. I am sensitive to smoke and barely notice it on casino floors. You can really tell the difference at regional or smaller casinos.

But the weed, whew. I feel like you can smell it getting off the plane.

Enjoy. Just be aware that Mirage is about to begin a substantial project (I thought late this year). Hard Rock bought it and will be redoing the resort, including a cool Guitar Hotel like the one in Hollywood, FL. I expect next year is going to be a mess at that property.

Yes, I do mean that opera! I used to have a friend who worked at the Met and she'd give me free tickets here and there--or I never would've gone. I am definitely not an opera fan.

Maybe you never sat downstairs in the costly seats, but the crowd there is heavily perfumed. It's not as bad upstairs.
