Las Vegas veterans....I need your help!
It's our first trip here, and I'm not sure what the dress climate is.
We are staying at Bellagio and will be seeing "O" and also Penn and Teller.
I'm taking a wide variety of clothes, but how dressy is it at night and for the shows? How about during the day? And the restaurants?

I'm no Vegas veteran, having only been there twice in the summer, but I'll try....we wore shorts and short sleeved tops during the day and most nights, as the temps were in the low 100's during the day and not much cooler at night! We don't eat in fancy restaurants, so shorts and tops were fine. We usually see one show during a trip...first was Mystere....GREAT SHOW!!! My husband wore Dockers and a collar shirt, I work khaki's and a blouse. We pretty much were in the majority. There were some people in shorts, t shirts and flip flops some in fancy dresses and suits. The second time we went, we saw Sinbad and pretty much wore the same type of clothes. Have a great time! I hope to go back next summer. :D

Stayed at Bellagio twice and it is a little more upscale (IMHO). Saw tons of PWP (Prade Wearing People)...think hip and trendy! I was there for a conference so wore my basic black pant suits during the day and changed my top at night. I like to dress up a little so I wore my embellished sweaters and tops at night. I don't remember seeing people really dressed up (beaded gowns, etc.) except for at private functions. As far as restaurants go...it depends on where you decide to dine. If you go over to the Four Seasons and dine at Aureole...you'd feel out of place in casual attire and I believe a jacket for men is suggested. If you go to the buffet at the Bellagio...anything (well, almost anything) goes. If you aren't sure and are going to an upscale restaurant..call! Vegas like Orlando brings out every type of dress....even at Bellagio you'll see people wearing shorts and tanks and others dressed to the nines. Wear what is comfortable to you!

Weather is June varies but it starts to get hotter in the day. Bring comfortable shoes as ALL the casinos anymore are HUGE! Walking the strip can be a hike, too. I always bring a light sweater or two because they seem to keep places pretty cool there (especially at night).

If you have the time and inclination I highly recommend the spa (get a manicure, pedicure or massage) it was the best spa experience I've had! If you get a treatment you are allowed to use their facilities all day and they include whirlpools, steam and euclyptus rooms and all types of other facilities. Another thing we did was to rent a cabana. While this can be pricey for two...if you have a larger group, splitting the cost can make it affordable (I think it was about $150). It was great to have our own space while lounging around the pool. It came with TV, Tables, chairs and MISTERS and the waiters stopped by all day!

Bellagio is wonderful. Next to the Four Seasons, this is one of the stars of vegas as far as hotels go. The rooms are great, too. Expect to be impressed by the furnishings and the bathroom! I loved my stay there and I am sure you will, too. ENJOY!

Thanks so much for your quick replies!

Dopey Sharon- I'm glad to know it's more casual than I thought.
I like to dress up, but it's nice to know I don't have to for most things. Sounds like it's hot in Vegas in June, not unlike Orlando, only dry heat instead of high humidity.

Penny2- Unfortunately, the Bellagio Spa is undergoing a massive renovation. I've been told they have moved the facilities to the fourth floor of the hotel, and no water treatments will be available!!!! But, I did go ahead and book a lemon ginger stone massage! I'll have a mani and pedi before I leave so I won't need that.
I'm happy to hear you really enjoyed your stays at Bellagio! The cabana sounds lovely. How far in advance did you reserve this?

We haven't decided where to dine yet. We may do 1 upscale restaurant, and certainly Olive's at Bellagio (a Todd English restaurant, his original place is in Charlestown, MA, not too far from here). I probably should write another post on dining suggestions!

Thanks again for your great info!

Debbie

We just returned from the Bellagio in Feb, and dress can vary greatly. If you're not eating at any of the nicer restaurants at Bellagio, shorts will be just fine. At the show of O, I'd suggest at least pants and a polo shirt for men. People dress a little more for the show at Bellagio than they do at Treasure Island to see Mystere. Olives also will require business casual attire for dinner, which again is khakis and a polo shirt. The best restaurants at Bellagio (and around Vegas for that matter) will require a jacket. We ate at Prime, and a jacket is required there, as is one at Picasso. Generally, when you make your dinner reservations, the reservationist will advise you to the dress code. If you plan on eating at one of the top places in Vegas, I'd bring a sportsjacket for your DH, and a nice pants suit or skirt outfit for you.
