My throat started getting sore on Wednesday morning. Yesterday while at work my voice started to go (I'm a teacher). Last night I was very squeaky.. this morning.... I have nothing nothing nothing.

The landscapers are here to finish the landscaping (planting and placement of the boulders) and really need me to be able to help them with this part of the job. Well.... I can't talk.. so DH came home from work.

I have a feeling my family is secretly enjoying the fact that I can't talk.

Anyone else ever have this and how long did it last? I'm not in pain. Nor am I running a fever.

Jen - could you please speak up? I can barely hear you!

No, really, hope you are better soon. :sunny:

Could you speak a little louder, I can't hear you! :rolleyes1

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Mine usually only last a day or two. I drink a lot of tea when I get a sore throat or laryngitis. It usually helps.

Sorry you are not feeling well.

Ya'll are just SO FUNNY!!! ;)

I am actually feeling fine.. I just can't talk.

The annoying thing is the elated smiles on my family's faces!

I feel for you! I got laryngitis a few years ago on our trip to WDW. It lasted about 5 days of the trip and started getting better on the day we left. It really was the worst. I wasn't in pain, just couldn't talk!
Feel better!!

Should be within a couple days--just try not to strain your voice trying to speak until then.

I sympathize--I have it right now too! Luckily I have my "mom look" perfected enough that if one kid catches sight of it, they quickly let the rest know. :rotfl:

:rotfl2: That look works pretty good on husbands too doesn't it? ;)

Gawd, I wish. I usually have to kick him, or one of the kids has to speak up. The kids do take after me, after all. :rotfl2:

For the past couple years now I've been getting laryngitis for no reason on and off every 1-2 months. It usually lasts 1-4 days. I seldom have a sore throat with it, sometimes can feel my vocal chords are irritated, but often it's totally asymptomatic.

I can do a lot of my job via e-mail and fax, so it's usually OK.

I am a preschool teacher so I am hoping and praying this is gone by Monday. Could make for an interesting time if it isn't.

My best advice--DO NOT SPEAK. Rest your voice, drink a lot of tea, avoid dairy and soda. Get lots of sleep, and take a hot steamy bath a couple times a day.
