Will be heading over to WDW on a Monday in early August and need to decide what time to leave Largo. We will have lunch with family and were hoping to leave sometime in the afternoon but have heard some traffic horror stories. We would like to be at WDW no later than 7:00. Would appreciate any advice on how long to allow. Thanks!

I have family that lives in Largo and it's about 1 1/2 hours their home to the MK parking lot. That's with no traffic tie up due to accidents on I-4.

I agree with the pp, the drive is 1 1/2 hours. I would suggest being on the road by 3-3:30 to avoid the majority of traffic with people getting off work.

If you're traveling on a weekday, you will probably want to be on the road by 2:00ish to avoid the evening rush hour (3:00-6:00ish) through Tampa and on I-4 or stay until after supper and get on the road about 6:00pm, but this will get you to WDW 7:30-8:00 time frame. There is still construction going on through Tampa along I-275 until 2016
If your traveling on the weekend, traffic is just heavy in general through Tampa most of the day due to construction through the city, but thins out considerably once you are on I-4 out of Tampa
