Largest DS/DDs mobile bills!

OK, what is the biggest mobile phone bill that your DS's or DD's have managed to build up?

My eldest DD just managed spend £141 in one month!!

Needless to say shedoes not have a phone anymore!

We thought we could trust her to be sensible with a pay monthly phone rather than a pat-as-you-go jobby - we've learnt our lesson, lets hope she learns hers!

Been there, done that! Don't make the same mistake we did and give her a second (and third ) chance.

Youngest DD doesn't have a phone and eldest DD's biggest monthly bill since she had the phone for Christmas was £1.61!!!!!!

Do you think I might have been a bit too strong on the 'big bills' warnings?

This made me laugh Tim!

DD doesnt run up very large bills but the same can't be said for Mark and I in the past I'm afraid!

One month when we first got together, Mark's mobile phone bill was £250 and his land line was £100 !!!! (Taking into account 400 'free' minutes too!!!!!)..my bill that month was £120 too.............do you think we talk too much?

I do sympathise about the big phone bills.

Our first high bill was when number one son discovered premium rate adult lines!! Soon got those numbers barred (for free).

More recently it has been both sons using the land line to phone their mates on their mobiles. So taking the mobile phone away doesn't really help!!

When you look at a phone bill and see the cost of an evening call from a landline to another landline, probably only a matter of pence for an hour or so. I don't mind that. They can use that as much as they like. (Providing of course that I'm not on the internet - Luckily BT Anytime) . But when you can see the cost of a call to a mobile for only relatively few minutes at around £10.00 a time, then you start to worry.

Hope you don't get any more high bills Tim.

DD Sam wants a mobile and we are looking into buying a pay as you go, and after reading this, we will stick with that decision I think!

DS (aged 15) has had one £10 voucher and an initial free £5 of calls since his birthday last August when we bought his Pay as you Go phone. He's still got about £2 of calls left on it.

My DW and I have a Virgin EQ account with two phones on Orange and our average monthly bill is under £2 (paid by direct debit) - one month it was actually 25p for both phones.

Beat that !

I do send a lot of e-mails though . . . LOL

My largest mobile phone bill was £200. How Nic spent £400 in 13 days talking to me on my mobile.

This love thing is a costly matter!!!!

We bought eldest son (16) a Pay As You Go phone on the understanding that he pays for the calls - it's been great!
Resisting pleas from younger son (12) for a mobile and will continue to do so for a while - we lend him one if he is going on a trip e.g. playing cricket away or school trip and he needs to let us know what time to collect him.

My DS is only seven, so I haven't had to deal with this yet. More fun things to look forward to.

Tim, I find it interesting that you have to pay calling from a landline to a mobile. Over here, all the charges go to the mobile phone (sending and receiving), unless of course, it's a long distance mobile number, then both phones have charges. I saw on the news the other night, that more and more people are starting to get phone solicitors on their mobiles. Hasn't happened to me yet, but I'm sure it will.

Olaf - the only time a mobile is charged for receiving a call is if you use it abroad - like in Europe or the US (I think )

Brilliant, I have some ammuniton, thank you Shirley and Hilary!! My DD age 12 going on 13 says she is the only person in the country not to have a mobile. Like Shirley's DS, she takes mine if needed for security/convenience, other than that she can use the land line after 6 as much as she wants, but not to call mobiles!! She never phones anyone, and doesn't like talking on the phone!!

Go figure, as they say!!
