Larger car for 6 + luggage

Just read the other thread on here about 8 seater cars and it had me thinking.

As there will be 6 of us (4 adults and two children, one of which will be 10 so not far off adult size!). And we will all have luggage (case each plus hand luggage). Do you think we might be best to get something like a Sienna? Or would we manage with a 7 seater? Which, judging from the quotes on that thread, is a more 'standard' cost.

I think we will use the Magical Express from the airport on arrival but will want a car for the second half of our visit when we will move offsite from Disney. So, we will be driving ourselves back to the airport at the end of our stay - hence point about luggage. I don't really want to faff about with taxis.

The other option was two medium cars but neither my M or D want to drive out there (I personally think this a better option as we it means we aren't tied to each other for trips outside of Disney but hey ho!), so that puts off that idea.

Thanks

I cant advise on the 8 seater but this year we had the 7 seater. There were 4 adults and 2 small children. (3 and 11months). We had 4 suitcases and one small maclaren single pushchair and we fit in ok. However there was definitely no room in the boot for anymore cases.

Last couple of years we have been as a party of 6 (5 adults + 1 child age 5)
Its a squeeze going to and from the airport (and changing hotels) but throughout the holiday no problem at all.
Certainly not worth paying almost double the price for the extra seat. If I did find we couldn't get everything in to return to the airport I would do 2 runs and leave someone at the airport with some luggage, couldn't warrant £300-400 extra for a larger van(although price depends how long you are renting for)

We've done 6 adults in a 7 seater minivan twice, we managed ok, I think the last time we had to have one case in the back but there was plenty of room for it. I would def save the money and get the 7 seater.

Great thanks - that is one more thing that I can sort out shortly.

I'm guessing it normally doesn't matter when you book cars? It's not like you book far out and you get a better deal?

I have memories of 4 adults and one child (in a large 6 months + car seat) plus 4 suitcases and hand luggage all cramming into a Vauxhall Corsa equivalent in Cyprus and it was comical :lmao:. Never again - I don't mind having the odd case by my legs etc but I literally couldn't move :rotfl2:.

If we do a split stay we will need to move our luggage mid trip too! ::yes::

I have no idea about insurance etc and have read a few threads now about it (seems it can be a minefield and a 'run the gauntlet' type of situation when you book in to collect!). So will probably leave it to a TA to book if I go down that route. Yes, it's more expensive, but for our first trip, I'd rather have piece of mind.
