Large Print Navigators for Disability

So I'm sure I saw someone mention on here about these still being available but can't seem to find any information. I am blind and struggle with the navigator as it isn't large enough print (still have central vision but registered blind). I've selected it on the disability form but I'm worried that I will need to pack my magnifier in order to be able to read it properly. I wanted to check if recent cruises have been able to get the large print navigators or not and if so how they have gone about it? Last year during the UK summer sailings they were not available but I was travelling with my sister so not as much of an issue as she just read the navigator out to me (I'm sure she didn't enjoy it half as much as I did). This time I'm travelling solo on the Wish so want to try and make things as easy as possible. I know I can also use the TV but obviously this only works for when in the room itself (last thing at night and first thing in the morning probably) so did want to see what other options people have used. Thanks

Edited to add - completely get that regular navigators are not available any more this is about LARGE print versions that are an option on the disability form you complete for the cruise.

There are no longer paper navigators, it is on the app during the cruise.
Yes I understand that but it is one of the disability options that they have on the form they insist you complete which is why I'm asking whether they do them or not. It seems strange to put it on this form as a specific thing if it also isn't available if that makes sense. As said I can't use the app without lugging around my magnifier which is huge and I'd rather not have to travel with if there is an alternative. The form Disney get you to fill in suggests there is which is why I'm asking if anyone recently has been able to get these. Regular Paper Navigators have been gone for years now but this form still says "large print menus" and "large print navigators".

Hi Gismo,

I would call shoreside Guest Services and chat with them about it. We have a daughter who is also legally blind and only has a small amount of central vision. She's still able to use her phone though, so we haven't pursued the large print options to date. But GS has always been accommodating as they can with regards to people with disabilities.

Have you tried using an iPad? Maybe the larger screen with larger fonts and the ability to zoom in? I don't want to presume anything about your situation, but that's just a thought.

I hope you have a great time regardless of the outcome!

Yeah so I've tried on the ipad and it doesn't really zoom enough. I may need to bring the magnifier I have for it and just put up with the extra baggage weight. As coming from the UK it makes it more difficult. I've tried ringing the DCL number and they just say fill in the form and they will accommodate but with the regular ones being discontinued I feel like they wont have them and I'll be stuck. The other option I have I suppose is taking screen shots and then zooming in on those. Its only slightly too small annoyingly. Thanks anyway :D

I recommend contacting Special Services to ask:
Phone: (407) 566-3602 Fax: (407) 566-3760 TTY: (407) 566-7455
Email: SpecialServices@disneycruise.com

I believe the form also offers an audio version of the Navigator. I don't know how that works, and I understand the large-print version is your preference, but the audio may be an alternative for you.

From my understanding, they still make a Crew version of the navigator, its not the same per say as the ones we used to receive as guests so they may provide that to you also?

As everyone else recommended, special services should have the best answer tough.

My understanding is the crew version is very small.

Thanks so much for this info! I'm going to email and ask (especially about audio version as might be better).

As erionm says I've seen the crew one and that's even smaller than the app version on the phone :D Thanks for the suggestion though

The only reason I bring up the crew navigator is because they still do make a navigator, its just not the pretty one they used to have. Would be very easy for someone to go in there and increase the font size/reprint for you!

I used to do that occasionally for guests when I worked at Coronado Springs back in the day with their weekly activities list. Just make the font size bigger so its easier to see 😁

No completely makes sense and I would hope they could do something like that. I know last summer (when I was shown one) they said they only got them that size but that was chatting to someone in a bar rather than asking at guest services as this was the last night of the cruise I didn't inquire further. I've always just put the large print option down on the form before and always got the giant ones without issue but I can't remember if the last cruise pre-covid (Sept 2019) still had the regular paper ones or not - I got the large ones on this one definitely as this was my last solo. Its the location info I struggle with rather than the full info on there as its a smaller text so it may be easier to just do the screen shot and zoom in on the photo possibly. I've reached out to the email address mentioned above to see what happens.

Always worth asking! I have a hard time finding event locations in the app sometimes too so it is totally understandable.

Enjoy your cruise!
