I bought a bag of those jumbo marshmallows at the grocery store and I want to make rice krispy treats with the pink ones. But I don't know how many to use. Google is not helping!

Anyone know how many mini marshmallows are equivalent to a giant marshmallow?

Thanks!!!

I'm pretty sure it's 40 when you are using the big ones.

ETA: I don't mean 40 mini = 1 jumbo, I mean that you use 40 big marshmallows to make a pan of rice crispie treats.

I use 8 minis to equal 1 "regular" sized marshmallow. OP, my problem was the opposite of yours--I needed minis, but only the larger sized marshmallows were available! So, I cut up the large marshmallows into mini-sized pieces--8 minis is about right.

These aren't the regular large marshmallows... they're the super giant ones that come in a huge bag. The marshmallows are probably a good 2-inches around.

I think the OP is using those extra big sized marshmallows...can you estimate how much bigger they are compared to a regular sized marshmallow? I'm think 3 times bigger so I would go with 13 or 14 of them

One huge marshmallow equals about 14 minis? That sounds about right, maybe.

If you have the ones I think you do I would say they are about 2 regular to one jumbo. We have been using the jumbo for s'mores while camping and it seems one is about the same as two regular size.

I purchased these at the beginning of summer thinking they looked cool and would be fun. They are not. It takes a lot of time to get them to melt all the way through for s'mores and I would not have the patients to melt them for rice crispy treats. I use the regular size strawberry marshmallows for rice crispy treats.

I was gonna cut them up before melting them... I've never seen regular size strawberry ones!!

I love the way these taste right out of the bag. The texture is a little bit different from a regular marshmallow.

no, I meant to use 13/14 of the jumbo sized marshmallows for the recipe if they are triple the size of regular marshmallows ( I use 40 of the regular sized for rice krispie treats) Maybe 20 if they are about double the size of regular marshmallows

Oh OK, I didn't even know they made jumbo marshmallows. Now I totally want rice krispy treats!

I found the jumbo marshmallows this year. My kids loved them. I never saw strawberry marshmallows!!

Uhm... go by the weight on the bag. If you use 6 oz of the mini's use 6 oz of the big ones.

That would take me way too long to figure it out. And it would require me to have a bag of minis, which I don't have.

I would check the weight of the bag, and go from there. If the weight of the bag is about the same as a bag of mini marshmallows, then you should be all set. Then again, I never use the recipe when I make Rice Krispie Treats. I use the whole bag of marshmallows, mix with margarine or butter until it looks 'right' and just pour the RK from the box. Noone has ever complained that they aren't 'right'

The usual rice krispie treat recipe calls for 10 ounces of marshmallows. Check the weight on your bag; if it's 10 ounces, add all of it. If it's 15 ounces, count the marshmallows and add 2 out of every 3. If it's a different weight and you're math-challenged, post the weight on the package and we'll help you figure out how much to add.

The recipe I use calls for cups, not ounces... so that helps a lot. I can figure it out that way.

This is almost a 30-oz bag. So, 1/3 of the bag. But I only want to use the pink ones... LOL. I'm surprised that there isn't an equivalent listing for this online. I've seen these in the grocery store for at least two years now.

you need 10 oz. so pick out the pink ones and weigh them till you get 10 ounces...not sure the issue :confused3

Are they strawberry flavored or just pink...if they are just pink, food coloring would also do the trick.

This is exactly what I do also, it's not like you can mess them up where they won't rise or something. Just add the RK slowly to make sure you don't get too much or they will be dry.
