We will be traveling with a group of 12 total at the end of July. Any suggestions on how to stay on-site and not spend a fortune? We want the full experience but on a budget.
How many familes? We are doing the same, going with 9 and we decided to use our Dad's timeshare. It's the only way we can get a place with 3 bedrooms and an extra room.1900 sq.ft!! I wish you luck. The ONLY place I know of onsite, is Port Orleans. They are a moderate resort, that sleeps 5 to a room. There are other resorts that can sleep up to 5,but space and money wise, it's your best bet! Good luck!!
oh yeah, thats right...forgot Ft. Wilderness! Another way to get all of you guys there, and onsite..we've camped there,in an RV back in the 80's(telling my age here) and we had a blast!
Thanks for the feedback. We have 3 families, (mine=4, parents = 2 or 3, sister = 5). We currently have reservations at the Residence Inn on Marbella but were wondering about staying on site.
We're going with 12 people next May and wll do 4 ASMo rooms (family 1 = 3, family 2 = 3, family 3 = 4, family 4 = 2). I have figured that our to be cheaper than 2 FW Cabins. I had considered using the families timeshare, but it would take trading multiple weeks to get enough space. Plus, with varying personalities and ages, I want to make it easy to go back and forth between parks and hotel.
If you're asking about 12 people traveling all together and staying in 1 resort on sight with several rooms ...the least expensive would be the value resorts. If you're looking to have 12 people all in one room, you'd need to get a DVC villa. The least expensive way to do that would be to rent points from a DVC member in which case you could check out the DVC Rent/trade board here on the disboards. Getting several rooms all at one value resort would definetly be the least expensive though
Other options you could look into too are the DTD hotels, some of them may have less expensive rooms that accommodate larger amounts of people and may be equiped with kitchens/kitchenettes and could save on $$ for meals.
We're doing the same thing next year. I've priced everything and the cheapest...excuse me...least expensive way is to stay at one of the value resorts. Pop Century is a bit cheaper overall because they have a lower tax on their rooms. We've done the All Star Movies before and had a great time being in the "disney" mood the whole trip!
