Large Balcony at BCV

From the quiet pool at BCV, you can see oversized balconies that sit on the inner corners of the resort. Anyone know what those room are like? Are they dedicated 2 bedrooms? Can I request them?
My wife and I spend a lot of time on the balcony after we put the kids to bed and these look very appealing.

We stayed in a studio at BCV with the huge balcony. It was nice only problem is that we were only there 2 nights. You probably could try requesting them. I don't remember what our room number was, sorry. We are checking into BCV this Sunday :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I will try to figure out what the room number is. We requested an Epcot view so that we could see the fireworks at night.

...and yep, the balcony was huge...I'll check the number and repost.:)

We had one of those rooms. It was studio #566. We enjoyed the large balcony. The room was configured differently, because it was at the end of the hallway, and not connected to a 1BR. The studio had 2 closets, and a longer than usual entry "hallway" inside the room. Very nice features for a studio.

The only downside was that it is right next door to the elevator shaft, so we heard the elevator motor starting and stopping all through our stay.

This question was my first post and I want to thank you for the quick responses.
Kendallkat2, enjoy WDW next week. I'm jealous that I won't be there until Dec. 11. Interesting that the first response to my question is from a neighbor. I'm in Orange County, NY.
MBB, is Turret Rooms the official name that MS would recognize? Was your room a studio as well? I'm staying in a 2 bedroom so this may not be an option for me.
Travelbug, it seems you were on the top floor, I think the 5th floor is the top floor, where the motor is. The noise may not be as bad on the lower floors.
This is a wonderful forum. I can ask questions that I couldn't ask anywhere else.

Chop003, welcome to the Boards!! I didn't notice that it was your first post. Don't be a stranger. Post again soon and often!

There was actually a recent thread about elevator noise at BCV. People who had stayed on a variety of floors had comments about hearing the elevator every time it started and stopped. So I guess it is a reality on more than just the 5th floor. But while we didn't enjoy the noise, it was by no means a trip wrecker. I love staying at BCV! :D

I'm jealous of you getting to go on Dec. 11!! What a beautiful time to go, plus the parks shouldn't be very busy. Have a wonderful trip!

We were in a 2 bedroom villa at BCV's with the large patio- it was wonderful. We were on the 4th floor and had a view of WISHES fireworks too. The patio has doors to it from every room- LR, MBR and the 2nd bedroom. Ours had a straight on view of the pool and was very close to the main elevator- about 8 doors down. We were in room #434 You can go here to find descriptions of a lot of the rooms for BCV's. You should be able to get as good idea of what romos have what views

OK, I get way too obsessed about these things....

Picture of the large balcony

From what I can determine (I have never stayed in one but have some maps)... The large balconies are on the 5th,3rd and 2nd floors. They share the balcony with two units and have a divider on the balcony. Ten of the twelve are a either a dedicated or lock off studio and two are dedicated one bedrooms. I think the window between the two is for the pool elevator area on one side and a stair well on the other.

Here are the rooms going from top to bottom and right to left (from the pool). S= studio, D=dedicated, L = Lockoff

516 S- D
528 S- L

560 S- L
566 S- D

316 S - D
328 S- L

360 S-L
366 1bdrm - D

??Upper area of common room
228 S- L

260 S- L
266 1bdrm - D

There are also two small turrets closer to the center of the building. The balconies are off the second bedroom of a 2bdrm dedicated unit. (434 and 454)

Well- we were in 434 - and we had a 2 BR villa that had the balcony off of the LR, MBR and 2nd BR- no divider either. It was not a turret balcony either- just one of those long ones.

LOVE THE PIC! Mayeb that how the configuration is for that end of the resort?

kearbear- I was thinking from what I have (pics and maps) that 434 was a dedicated 2 bedroom that had a balcony running across it and it bumped out some in front of the second bedroom to correspond to the small turret above . I'm just taking my best guess from my info. Does that correspond to what you know it had? It looks like a great room. I hope I get it next time!! Did this room have a sleeper sofa in the second bedroom? Was it also a smoking room? I'm a bit unsure about what rooms are smoking other then the epcot wing on the 4th floor.

Okay, for curiosity's sake...I was in a 1bdrm pool view #310 (it was a lock off) and it had 2 small balcony's for anyone wondering. Anyway, during my weeks stay, I often was looking at those large balcony's and trying to figure out the same thing...which they were attatched to..studios,1 or 2bdrms. I also observed that these large balcony's seem to have dividers in them but there at least one I noticed on the 2nd floor I think it was, that was large on the turrent without a divider. Maybe it was a 2 bdrm I'm guessing??

Glad to know I'm not the only one who sits in the pool looking up at the villas trying to guess what size units they are lol

We also stayed in one of those large balcony rooms. I think it was room 560, but it could have been 566. It was a dedicated studio with a longer entry hall and an enormous balcony. It was really lovely. There were two annoyances, though. The elevator shaft was right next door and you could definitely hear it, although it wasn't terribly loud. The other thing was that the light right out on the balcony was on all night long. And it was bright as day in the room unless you completely shut the drapes. Even a sliver of opening created a TON of light in the room. I prefer to sleep with the drapes partially open because I don't like the room to be dark when I wake up. So that was kinda bad. I thought all the rooms at BCV had that light issue, but I stayed in a 1 bedroom in the middle of the side overlooking the quiet pool this summer and there was no light to speak of. Weird. I think it might have been an open balcony, though, so that might explain it. The balcony in the studio had a ceiling.

Hey Scootch,
My room map has a Lock off Studio and the upper portion of the Breezeway next to that 2nd floor balcony near your room. Sooo... it could be the lucky DVC'r that snags #228 hits the big balcony jackpot.

lisareniff- YES! It is possible that it had a little turret- attached to the second bedroom. I see what you are saying now! The room I was in was a dedicated 2 BR villa- and the 2nd BR had a queen bed and a sleeper sofa.

My husband and I were in room #516 at BCV from Oct 8-12th. We really loved it! When we got off the elevator we took a few quick steps and there it was! It was in the corner all by itself. It did have a nice size balcony, and was a studio. When I used the laundry facilities I went to the elevator, down to 4, took a few steps and was right there! For us, this was a great room...and btw, we did not hear any elevator noise!

Okay, forgive me, I know I'm slow sometimes and it's before noon

but I'm confused. So is it a dedicated 2bdrm then or a lock-off? And if it's a lock-off, is the studio the portion that gets the big balcony?? AND... if it's the studio portion that gets the big balcony when not being used as a lock-off 2bdrm, it's interesting that the smaller size villa gets the huge balcony huh?! That's if of course that it's a lock-off and not a dedicated 2 bdrm

Wait, maybe I'm not as slow as I may think this morning lol. Karebear1, did you mean the the room you were in was the room we are talking about or that you could also see that the room we're talking about from your room?

And lisareniff , thanks for the info. that #228 must be the lucky room. Not that any of us would probably be able to snag a particular room# but it's nice to have the knowledge::yes:: ;)

Scootch- Now you've got me confused!!!!!

The info and responses I wrote about were directed at the room I stayed in which was room #434. It was a dedicated 2 BRV, and the par of the balcony that was attached to teh 2nd bedroom was wider then the rest of the balcony that came off of the LR and MBR.

Okay..gotcha;)

So you were talking about the room you had and lisareniff
was talking about the one I was talking about on the 2nd floor then? Hope I got it this time lol:crazy: If not, I'm giving up because now I'm completely lost lol:p

Just to make sure I understood you scootch...

You were talking about a 2nd floor balcony in one of the large turrets. I was thinking you were talking about large one near your room. This would be above the breezeway entrance. If this is the case it is a different room then the one I was talking to karebear about.
