Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has had a large reception at ADH. We're penciled in right now for it, but I'm curious to see a large wedding there. I haven't really seen through my searching any where tables were used on the level off the dance floor. Thanks!

I am also curious about this. My DF & I were heavily debating between ADH and LSS.. we went with LSS, but if I get more pre-rsvp's than expected I may switch to ADH. How many people are you planning to have?

Hi Julianne. We love LSS and that was our original choice too, but with the people that may come, there wouldn't be room for a dance floor and dancing is SUPER important to us. I'm hoping we could still use it for an after ceremony brunch since there will be no dancing. We are inviting about 170 people and I'm expecting about 110 to come. Hopefully someone will respond with more info. :)

I was best man at a wedding this past Sunday where the reception was at ADH.

They had about 65-70 guests. They were 20 ppl or so too big for some of the smaller places they liked, so they ended up at the ADH.

If I remember correctly: they had 4 big round tables on the dance floor (I think they sat 8 each?). If you were standing in front of the stage looking out into the room, there were two tables kind of in the back left corner and two in the back right corner of the dance floor.

The DJ had has equipment set up in the back center of the dance floor, directly across from the stage. The newlyweds had a sweetheart table on the dance floor right in front of the stage (which the staff took down once dinner was over and dancing started - I didn't even notice it was gone until much later).

They had smaller dining tables on the next higher level around the perimeter of the dance floor (which is about 3-4 steps higher than the dance floor and next to the little wall/railing combo that surrounds it). Those tables had 4 ppl each.

They also had a buffett, which was set up in the back left corner of the room (When looking out from the stage) along the walls near the glass doors leading out to the balcony.

They had the cocktail hour on the upstairs level of the ADH with some food and the 2nd floor bar open. Then they invited the guests to the lower level for the reception, and when they introduced the bridal party, we made our way down the big staircase and out onto the dance floor.

The way the staff set it up for our 70 people was great, and they could have easily fit twice that many people on that first level. There is a lot of space there that went unused for us on Sunday. The dance floor is HUGE. I haven't had time to look through my pics yet, so I can't post anything for a reference - sorry!

Overall, I will say that the ADH is great location for a reception. Having those private balconies along the water was fantastic - lots of people spent some time out there during the evening. The spacing inside was perfect, the arrangement of the tables on the dance floor and then up around the perimeter was great, and the location on the Boardwalk let us take what I think will be some very cool pictures of the bridal party before the reception.

Very cool place for a reception :thumbsup2

Good luck with your planning! Hope this info helps!

I had a fairly large wedding (80 guests) at ADH. I actually chose to utilize the tables around the first level because I wanted ample space on the floor. I have many photos of the wedding in my PJ. You can go to the link in my signature, of you'd like to get ideas!

Those photos (and the links to them) are very helpful! :goodvibes

EricinTX: Thank you! Thank you! Your detailed account was super helpful. I'm happy to hear it didn't feel crowded at all. I appreciate you taking the time to write that here.

Elleinad16:Thanks for the link. Your photos are helpful and gorgeous!! I'm now going to read your fell report.

You're welcome!

FYI - the ADH for my friends' wedding looked almost exactly like the pics in Elleinad16's links.

Enjoy!

We had about 85 people at ADH and it was great. Setup was very similar to what Erin described. We had 6 round tables on the dance floor. Three on each side. A head table against the stage of 11 people and three rounds of 4 on the outside perimeter. I was worried about crowding as well but we had plenty of room for dancing. As Erin said the DJ booth is already setup so you don't have to worry about that taking away from the dance floor space. We had cocktail hour upstairs as well and utilized the bar that is already in place in the back of ADH. All of the food was setup in the back corner, out of the way of everyone. It was perfect, I was skeptical on using the small tables of four but it turned out wonderful.

Here is a link to all my pictures. In the details photos you will see some great shots of the setup!

I had almost 200 people at our wedding at ADH. We had 7 tables on the dance
floor and used up all the tables on the second level....
