Lapu Lapu drink at 'Ohana

Thanks everyone for your replies.

If anyone wants to share about other drinks, with or without alcohol, I'd be interested. I want an idea of what to try when I'm at WDW.

UGH! My DH and I ordered one at the Kona Cafe. He thought it looked all yummy in the carved out pineapple.

It was all alcohol with a splash of fruit juice! We couldn't drink it.
I tried because I didn't want to waste the money, but just couldn't.

Now then, my mom and brother really like the Backscratcher from Ohana's.

And I had something yummy last year at Ohana's. Just can't remember what it was. Maybe it was the Island Sunset. That sounds right.

At Hurricane Hanna's at BCV the pina colada's are yummy.
And the guys in my family all enjoyed the Beck's at the Biergarten. My mom had a Himbeere, some kind of berry drink, and she loved it so much she got the recipe from our cutie patootie server.

Oh, and DH loves the mai tai at Kona Cafe. He had three of them last year, and he is not a drinker.

If you go to the Hoop Dee Doo, the sangria is tolerable. Not the best and not the worst.

Geeze, hope it doesn't sound like my family are all lushes........

POG is Pineapple Orange Guava drink, quite popular in Hawaii.

Awesome! Thanks Alice!

I searched for the term POG and came up with passionfruit, orange and guava juice combo. One site recommended using Minute Maid orange passion juice.

I love the Lapu-Lapu and yes, you can taste the alcohol. I order one each time I go to the Polynesian.

Here's a picture of one (and my daughter and me) from December 2002. They put some of the drink in the pineapple and the rest in the small glass to the left.

Now I love the Lapu Lapu alot. But I have to say at the Outer Rim lounge at CR make the absolute best Pina Coladas at WDW. They make them not from a prepackaged mix but with real pinapple juice, rum, coconut milk and icecream mix base and it truly is a splended thing of beauty.

Boy am I glad that I read this thread. I was thinking about trying the Lapu Lapu when we eat at Ohana in a couple of weeks. I love fruity drinks but I definitely do not want to taste the alcohol. Maybe I will try one of the other drinks.

Margie…thanks for the recipes! For a down day my mother and I are having snacks and drinks on the monorail line. I was worried about the Poly because my mother doesn’t care for rum. The Kona Cool Sundown and Malibu Macaw sound great for her.

Liz, your family doesn’t sound like lushes. This is info that I’ve been looking for. If it makes you feel any better, mother and I more often that not have a glass of wine with our lunch while on vacation. We’ve been known to stop once or twice on our vacation touring at 4:00 and head for a lounge to kick back and talk about the day. There’s nothing like an “adult beverage” while on vacation.

robinb,

Thanks for the picture.

I definately won't try the Lapu Lapu with alcohol in it, but I might try the one without alcohol. :)

Had my first and only lapu lapu last week. Never again! Tasted like pure alcohol to me - no sweetness whatsoever. Couldn't finish it. The mai tai, on the other hand, was very good!
